Loss of Video from computer

Thread Starter
I have a PC connected to a HDTV and audio amp. When I turn off the TV and amp for several hours and then turn on both there is not picture. I need to restart the computer to get my picture back. I have tried turning off standby and setting standby and screen blank to 1 hour and still does not help. I also loose network connection and I have set the LAN card and vista to WOL.

What is wrong? Any suggestion appreciated.

MY UNIT:
Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H motherboard with ATI onboard HD video, HDMI output to TV, AMD X2 4600+,4 gig memory, Realtek ALC889A audio with 1.68 driver, Fiber optical S/PDIF output to Sony STR-DG800 amp, Sony KDA high def television, Vista with sp1, HomerunHD tuner, Gig Ethernet

Might want to post this in the HTPC forum...

I don't know - does moving the mouse or pressing one of the keyboard buttons like shift work (when you come back to a black screen)? Or switching through the inputs on the TV? Re-plugging in the HDMI lead (shouldn't need to though)?

will try a different forum as suggested above

Sounds like the TV turns off it's HDMI port completely when you turn it off, thus when you power the PC up, it thinks nothing is connected and disables the HDMI output.

Try making sure you turn the TV on before you wake/power the PC on.

Go into the bios and turn off all power management. You can also try selectively allowing PM to turn things off, but IMO it's not worth the bother. Just in case you don't know, the bios is only avaliable on boot up, entered by special key strokes, and is not part of the Operating System (Vista).

Also, Vista has some power management that can be turned off but I'd start with the bios.
