help: 1080p from PC on Westinghouse LVM-42w2 is shifted upward

Hello,

If this has been answered elsewhere, or should be better posted elsewhere, my apologies; I really did try to research it.

I have a Vista Media Center PC with a ATI Radeon 2400 HD connected to my Westinghouse LVM-42w2 via HDMI. 1080p images from the computer are "shifted upwards" by about 6-8 pixels; if I look closely, I can see a thin black border at the bottom, and I can tell that a few are missing off the top. Sides are fine.

Any other resolution from the PC has the same issue; however, the 1080i output from my TiVo HD is fine, and does not have the thin black border across the bottom.

I have looked into the 42w2 service mode to figure out a way to "move" the picture, and likewise have looked for a setting in the ATI Catalyst utility without success.

Does anyone have any ideas if anything can be done here?

I have a 42w2 v1.00 and my DVI 2 is affected by the same issue you explained. The bottom 6-8 horizontal pixels (11,520-15,360 total pixels) are the color of the bottom right pixel. I have used DVI2 before with my Vista PC and the pixel issue ceased to exist. I uninstalled Vista for XP and when I booted into XP for the first time I noticed everything had been pushed up like you said. I could clearly see the top 6-8 pixels were now cutoff. Eventually I thought to use DVI1 to determine the oddity. I am currently using DVI1 since I have all 2,073,600 pixels active. HDCP worked with my 360 HDDVD external drive in Vista through DVI2 just fine but with DVI1 it does not. I need to manually cycle signals frequently when changing resolutions, which is annoying since I play many games and watch HD videos often.

I don't know what else to tell you besides use DVI1 or try HDMI. I use VGA for 360 and component for PS2/HDSTB without any issues. Games and movies on 360 with resolutions of 1920x1080 pair up great with the native resolution of the Westinghouse. It is nice to have 1:1 pixel mapping while using a PC. I am a little worried about when I pick up my PS3 on June 12 and use HDMI since there are some issues, which I believe have since been fixed from the PS3 firmware. Then I can benchmark BD via HDMI and HDDVD via DVI to calibrate my 42w2 to the best of my ability.

Thanks for the response. In my case, the issue is happening over HDMI, but I haven't yet tried either DVI. I'll do so. (Also, my 42w2 is also a 1.00.)

You might be able to get around the HDCP issue by using Slysoft AnyDVD HD. I

Does anyone know the possible cause of this "pixel shift"?
