VP50 Question for those with HDMI 1.3 AVR

I am curious if anyone else with a VP50 and a new HDMI 1.3 capable AVR has their setup this way. If so, are you having any HDCP connection problems?

Since the VP50 does not support HDMI1.3, I need to set the VP up as follows so I can take advantage of my HD DVD player (or BR).

HD DVD and SA8300HD HDMI Audio & Video---> Pioneer Elite VSX91 HDMI inputs--->VSX-91 plays audio, pass through video to VP50--->VP50 to IF7210 Projector

When connected this way, I often get HDCP errors and the only way to eliminate them is through several FW re-installs. However, if I connect the sources directly to the VP50 and eliminate the VSX-91 from the chain, every thing works. Of course, I lose the TruHD and DTSMA capability this way, which is unacceptable to me. It appears that the VP50 may not work well with "repeater" devices.

Does anyone else have their setup this way and if so, is it working or have you had problems. Mine worked for six months with no problems, then issues have arisen.

DVDO is shipping me a new unit, so we will see if this fixes the problem, but I am looking for feddback from others that have a similar setup.

By the way, I tested this same configuration with an Onkyo 605 and another new VSX-91 and neither of those units would work either before I returned my VP50.

I have setup my VP50 the same way without any problems. Hopefully the new VP50 unit solves the problem for you but be aware that sometimes Infocus projectors are finicky also. I had IF7200 for quite some time & after few years of use it would not sync with anything with HDCP & needed main board replacement.

I use sources->VP50->91->VP12S4 no problem.

But you can't bitstream HDaudio that way.
You could do this if you had a player that decoded audio since the vp50 will pass PCM.

I received my replacement VP-50 last night. Hopefully, I will get it integrated into my system tonight.

My feeling is that the VP-50 was having problems with the repeater 1.3 devices. My 7210 is fine. If I connect my sources directly to the 7210, there is no problem - only when I put the 1.3 capable receiver in between the sources and VP-50.

Even the 8300HD, with standard DD5.1 would not authenticate with the VP50 when put through the receiver first.

Hopefully, all will be good. The processor does a very good job and I am satisfied with the Video performance.

Blu-ray and HD DVD -> Denon 3808 AVR -> VP50Pro -> Projector

No issues with this configuration for me.

I have the unit setup and working, but the Auto Priority will not work. No HDCP issues (though it did happen once) to speak of. I only have SDI and two HDMI sources feeding the VP50, so it is not that complex of a setup.

I cannot get my SDI player to work unless it is number 1, then if I do that, then it will not switch to the HDMI sources, even with the SDI DVD player unplugged.

I will see if I can program the discrete codes into my Marantz to solve this problem, but the way I see it, "auto priority" means auto (i.e. I should not have to do anything special), but it is certainly not working this way.

I guess I am about 75% satisfied, I will see how the codes work (assuming they are available) over the next week or so.
