Need help with PS3 Audio Settings

Thread Starter
I currently am running my PS3 via HDMI to a Yamaha 7.1 channel receiver and sending that out to 6 speakers (two front, two rear, one center, and one sub). Is there any advantage/disadvantage within the PS3 Audio Settings to have the 7.1 channel outputs selected? I am only running 6 speakers and I am not sure what the ideal settings should be. Thanks in advance.

You are running a 5.1 set-up (sub is considered .1) so I would select the relevant 5.1 options on the ps3 audio menu and leave the 7.1's off until you get the final 2 speakers.

Try reading the official PS3 thread before posting. Most of these types of questions have already been asked.

Zane55:

Welcome to AVS. As you can imagine much has been discussed on products that have been out in the market for a while. Before starting a new thread/topic, please take a moment to see if it's been covered in the sticky threads or using the search engine.

The best way to search is title search only in advance search. Limit search words to one or two. Make sure the highlight the appropriate forum from the list to the right.

If you find a "master thread" like Donnie linked. You can search within the thread using the search box in the upper right of the first post on each page. That search engine will search throughout the thread for your key word.
