Reposting on screens forum (posted on home theater forum already).
We are building a new home, and the drywall is about to be put up. We will have a projector (Sanyo PLVZ2000) projecting onto a 106 inch screen. The screen will be in front of a 60inch plasma TV. The TV is in the center of the room on top of a fireplace. The fireplace+mantel goes to about 49 inches and the height of the TV will be about 40 inches for a total of about 90 inches or about 7.5 feet. Our ceiling is 8 ft.
We will view the creen and TV from about 12-15 feet.
Because the entire front wall is occupied upto 7.5 ft, I am having some trouble figuring out the location of the center speaker. I have wired the ceiling and wall behind the screen so the center speaker can be in the ceiling in front of the screen or just above the TV behind the screen. In either case, it will be relatively high up. In either case, we can get aimable speakers to aim toward the seating area (about 12-15 feet away).
The two front side speakers can also be in the ceiling in front of the screem, or on the wall to the two sides of the TV.
What is the ideal location of these three speakers? Will I need a perforated screen if I put the center behind the screen? Will the movies sound odd with a ceiling mounted aimable center (Magnolia guys said it'd be ok).
Any help will be greatly appreciated, and I will gladly post my design when it is all done.
Thanks.
