Help! I Need a Receiver Now!!!

I want to thank everyone for posting all of the awesome information that can be found on this board. I have been an avid forum reader for the past 2 months (hours a night) doing research for my new entertainment set up. Before visiting this site I knew absolutely nothing and have never "invested" any money in my home entertainment. So far I feel like I have done very well on my purchases

52" Samsung a650 1080P TOC TV
KEF 3005 Speaker System (space is an issue). But now they are just sitting around and need to get put to use.

Now my brain is fried from trying to figure out which receiver would be the best compliment. I can't spend any more time researching. I need to get SOMETHING to begin enjoying my speakers but I just can't make up my mind. My budget is around $1K but I could spend more if necessary. My set up is a condo so I don't really care about how loud it can be, more about the quality of sound with an emphasis on Home Theater. Do I need to get a recieiver that upconverts to 1080p to get the best experience from my TV? Please someone help I am so confused!

The current sweetheart deal is the $549 MSRP Yamaha RX-V663 which can be had for $359 shipped from 6ave.com - coupon code AFLYAM359

No.

The 663 is a smokin deal but for $1K you can certainly get better .

At $1k you can get a Denon 3808

Or for a little more (sometimes they can be found for $1k) you can get a Marantz 7002 .

There are many others of course but those would be 2 of the top contenders at $1K IMO .

* Be sure to check with AVS as they are usually very competitive on pricing . *

Best of Luck ,

Hello,

I have tried AVR-3808 with KEF 3005 Speaker : the sound is perfect (for me). I love the meeting of this A/V Reveiver and these speaker.

It also works with Denon AVR-2808... or Yamaha RX-V3800 (but I prefer Denon with Kef)

That is a sweet deal! Thank you very much! I guess I am going to buy the Yamaha RX-V663 and save some cash. If it does not meet my expectations I can always return it and go with the Denon AVR 2808. Thanks again!
