Actually, my comments were directed at lba194.. sorry for the way it was written... I hope you don't have any issues... I love my set. Hopefully you got a tracking number the same time as your card was charged, and you get a new in box set without issues.....

It seems odd that there is a company that still has these sets as new after the buying frenzy at the beginning of the year... maybe that's why they are charging so much for the 67".. I know most were paying around 60% of what they are charging now, so their secret stash of sets caught me by surprise..

As for your last comment, I tend to my personal business by properly researching a company before I give out my credit card info to the tune of $3k for a discontinued set.

While some of the complaints have been about non-shipment, many were sold set's that weren't NIB or defective... and if you've taken delivery, your credit card company has less leverage to do a charge back while you are in possession of the merchants goods.

Best of luck to you with the set... I wasn't trying to comment on your purchase, but I've been here on AVS for ten years and have seen many burned by companies like this... just trying to give the other user a warning.

The only one that is brand new is the one that has a crack in it. I figured I would check here with you guys if there were any other places that sell these. I'd prefer the 67" as well but beggers can't be choosers.

And no offense andr0id, but this is your first and only post, but others should make sure they do their due diligence before buying from any internet only company.

The company does list both the 67 and 61 as "In Stock", with the 61 at a bargain type price (the 67 seems awfully expensive for a discontinued set.)

But the BBB gives them an F, and says as of July 2009 they don't have a valid business license...

They have 17 registered complaints, with zero resolutions.

Buyer beware.

Just make sure you use a credit card that protects you and you won't have any hassles. My first HD purchase, a 50" CRT RP Toshiba, occurred in 2001. It was in the air during 9/11 and the merchant was located in NY. So I could not get any info since communications were down in that area. AMEX covered me and credited my card immediately. I ended up ordering a 57" CRT RP Toshiba from a different company that was recommended from this site.

But because I used my Amex card, It was a painless procedure. And since it cost close to $3k, I was glad I used my AMEX card.

Opened a case with Samsung over the weekend on our 61". We have (had) firmware 1007.4 and would still get the random power cycles / lock-ups. Technician requested that I load the 1005.3 image. Almost immediately after the upgrade, I had the unexpected restart while tuning an HD channel (via cable signal). I would probably not have any of these issue if I used a STB of some sort. We received this unit back in February, so I want to have any warranty issue resolved ASAP. I would be interested in hearing from folks that have had the restart issue where a firware update did not solve the problem. Did a mainboard fix your problem?

Also, has anyone else noticed a slight delay between internal and external speakers. I feel like I am in a stadium at times...

I just thought I would share my experience with this tv. I purchased in august of 08 and registered with samsung and got the 15 month warrenty. I upgrade the firmware and used some of the setting recommended in this thread. the set according to the service menu has app. 1500hrs. During september of 09 the on screen volume display would pop up without any buttons on the remote or tv being hit, then the volume would proceed to lower itself to zero. The volume display would stay on the entire time. a tech has replaced the mainboard and the "button board", for lack of a better term. This did not fix the problem. The tech is coming back to replace the rf board. has anyone else experienced this? Is there anything else that could be the source of this problem? As for customer support Samsung's support has been great, the company they opened the ticket with, att connect tech, has been horrible.

Do you have HDMI CEC Enabled? And what devices do you have connected?

I have a problem where sometimes my tv will not turn on or off with the remote. I think that it is related to the RF board. Other than that this has been fine for me. (Knock on wood)

I have a directv hr-20, playstation 3 and xbox 360 all hooked up by hdmi. I also tried the directv receiver through composite and had the volume problem. As for hdmi cce I believe it is on, but have no way to verify because once the tv is on it doesn't respond to my remotes or the buttons on the side. At first it would be an intermittent problem that would go away if I left my tv off for an extended period of time but since the tech replaced the parts it happens every time I turn the tv on.

Just thought I'd let you all know that I've posted some updated settings for grayscale and gamut in the Calibration Thread below.

The service tech came last night and replaced the RF board. It seems to have fixed my volume problem. I am a little worried because my warranty is up the end of November.
hop on it now...find the info on Texas Tape Works and see what warranty suits you. Since there is no bulb, the warranty is cheaper...I don't think you will spend $200 on a Mack warranty through them

He is already under the 90 days before his warranty ends. He may not be able to get any extended warranties, other than with Samsung.

That's IF he registered it online with Samsung.

Had Samsung service out and they replaced a little fan in the middle rear of the unit. I watched the tech do it and figure it could be a DIY without much ado if required in the future. I believe there are two other fans which aren't quite as accessible though. But the service guy says there are hardly any complaints regarding fans. Power supplies are the usual culprits.

Alls well that ends well, I guess.

I'm happy to say I found a check in my mailbox today from Samsung for the full amount I paid for my TV. I'm so happy this whole ordeal has finally come to an end. The funny thing is that I call Samsung today and they said I should hear from the shipping company within the week and after the pick up receive the check via 2nd day air mail. Too funny I got it today via normal USPS.

No complaints thou seeing I have it in hand!

I found out from Samsung they wouldn't sell an extended warranty except within the first 12 months of the OEM. I can't believe they didn't tell me that when I got the free 3 month extension. Crazy.

So now I'm on my own after November.

I have had the TV since November of last year. I used the calibration thread to modify my television a long time ago. I noticed a banding problem around colors that have a gradient to them, much like the 360 boot the way the colors change as it branches out. How do I correct such profound banding?

Can you put up a screen pic?

I live in the woods and get a lot of gnats and dust in the tv. Can the lens and mirror inside be cleaned with a micro fiber cloth? Can windex be used on the mirror? Asked samsung but got a reply on how to clean outside of tv, don't think they even read the question.

Have you thought about getting an air filter? I just bought a Honeywell from Newegg for about $150 and it is night and day in our bedroom. We have birds and the air is so much better.

Since this is a first surface mirror, don't use anything with ammonia. Try Sprayway, the spray that is alcohol based.

I bought the HL61A750A1F in March and it shipped with firmware 1007.
I've always had the intermittent on/off issue that firmware 1005.3 is supposed to fix.
Should I apply to 1005.3 firmware even though the version number is lower?
Or should I have a service call and have them replace the system board?
Thanks.
call service before you do anything...let it be on record and then let them tell you what to do - if you install bad firmware and your tv dies completely, they may not be willing to assist you under warranty

The 1007 firmware should include all the fixes in the 1005.3 firmware. If you have a problem call Samsung service to fix it. Putting in older firmware might void your warranty.

Just thought I'd comment, since it seems that a decent amount of people are having issues.

I bought my TV in Jan 2009, and it has been flawless since. I updated the firmware and did the calibrations/test, and had zero distortion or calibration issues.

I'm hoping for years of trouble free operation, and I still get impressed every time I watch a blu-ray movie. Even standard DVD's (upconverted by my BR player) look pretty frickin awesome. I also almost never really use my surround sound, as IMO the tv's speakers do a pretty good job and sound pretty decent.

Also, is there a resource for using the 3D function? I know there is a device/goggles you have to buy, but is there any word on if there are movies/programs coming out that use the technology?

The Samsung uses the checkerboard method for 3D. There is a 99% chance this won't be the method used with 3D Blu-Ray, though there could be a conversion process in the STB.

The only viable way to use the 3D function today is via a PC, mostly for games.
Sorry, I'm a car guy, when I see STB the only thing I can think of is strut tower brace haha

So, basically unless there is a conversion the 61a750 wont be able to use the newer 3D formats coming out? If so that kinda sucks.
