I tried this! Thanks for the suggestion btw. On my just purchased HL61A750 (hurrayyy for meee!!!) I have a samsung upconverting DVD that was playing Surfs Up. CG movie. When I set the DVD player to 480P the movie looked REALLY good. Noticably better, nearly HD appearance. Then I tried Open Range. The picture wasn't nearly as sharp but looked really good. Like seeing it at the movies. Wider landscape shots looked sort of a smooth and had full look. Close ups and tighter shots looked very detailed but not as sharp as the CG movie.
Great tip thanks again! I'll be experimenting more with it...

UPDATE:
I watched irobot with the TV doing the up conversion until the last few scenes. Being used to the picture I switched the Sam DVD to do the up-convert and the result was the picture was noticably sharper. Giving the picture a look more resembling video. To me the TV conversion still looks softer like film at the theaters. Both have their own qualities so now it's a matter of taste.

The brightness seems about the same as the old bilb based set which is quite good.. The one downside is since thier is more that one light source their is very slight convergence issue that is only noticable within two feet of the screen.
