I'm experiencing it on the current firmware version also, and it happens when the unit is in standby mode and not when powered on as far as my troubleshooting goes. I turn the unit off (standby mode) and the LAN link goes inactive and everything is fine, but after awhile while the 1500 is in standby the LAN link becomes active again and this is when my Internet stops working until I unplug the 1500 LAN cable.
I've chatted with Samsung support on this and they have not heard of this issue. I've tried different cables and it doesn't make a difference. Samsung is saying to send it in to get replaced but I want to see if others are having this problem before I do that and get another one with the same problem.
It's not really an issue right now, since BD-Live is not here yet, but when BD-Live is out I would like to be able to leave the LAN cable plugged in.
I have a same/similar problem and am also using a power savings dlink 5 port Gb switch in AV cabinet.
The unit will not get an address via DHCP. Last night I manually set and did a firmware update. Ended up pulling the cable off this morning when I was unable to establish a printer connection on the network. TV and AV reciever remained connected to dlink thru out. Network issues are intermittent and go away when the cable is pulled from Samsung.
Will probably just leave it disconnected for now and see what turns up on the web.
Haven't noticed audio drop outs, but only played Sunshine and No Country for Old Men so far. Using HDMI (audiophile bitsdtream to AV receiver)
Chose the 1500 knowing it was a compromise so price was important as will get a better player when available. Bought this for bitstream capability and some reviews indicating good SD upconversion.
Want: Full decode all codecs to LPCM (no degradation); full bitstream support (has); SACD, DVD-Audio over HDMI; Superior SD upconversion (haven't tried 1500 yet); Fast transport; Settings backups; Profile (current)> Someday soon I hope!
