Firmware Update problem: Helping relatives out who have this BD-P1500. They had never done any firmware updates on it, and found they weren't able to play certain discs. So, I find 2.7, download it to a CDR, and follow the instructions in the update guide.
It Verifies, and after awhile I get the menu to update the firmware. Click OK on the remote, and now it's been over an hour sitting there on "CD-UP".
Having done firmware updates on many different brands of machines, I know it usually takes longer than the "few minutes" they claim it will, but this doesn't look promising at all. And god knows I'm not going to turn the thing off while it's in this state right now.
Suggestions? Anyone else go through this, and if so, what did you do to remedy the situation? Master reset (how is that done, if need be?) Tks. I hate going from hero to goat for no reason doing this stuff for others!
I plan to leave it on all night to see if it magically finishes/powers down, but I'm thinking it's going to be in this state in the morning, too.
