Firmware 2.7 still does not let me see the menu in Law Abiding Citizen...
Just an FYI, throwing it out there for future reference.
Back in post #5411 I reported that I could not get to the main menu in the regular DVD "Law Abiding Citizen"....that was when I had firmware version 2.6.
Version 2.7 does not correct that problem for me yet, still the same problem. No other problems have ever been encountered, but I only have a few BluRay dvds...all of my 100+ other dvds are regular standard definition.
Avatar played great and its a BluRay dvd.
And yes...it does take quite a while to load and finally view anything when a BluRay dvd is in the tray.
Please note that the Law Abiding Citizen DVD is not BluRay and the dvd plays fine on my 2 other non BluRay players. Strange.
I've update my BD-P1500 to Firmware ver 2.7
However after the 2.7 firmware upload I notice two DVD's in my collection would
The Studio logo would appear and then blue screen when trying to bring up the menu.
I found a work around that may help you.
I seem to have problems with Warner Bros:
Looney Tunes Premiere Collection 2 Disc Set.
Mind you these DVD's will play just fine on any other DVD Player I own
Even my HD DVD Player
"Yes I took the red and then the blue pill"
Once you see menu on the front of the BD-P1500
(on the remote or front panel)
When I did this on the DVD it bypassed the menu and started to play the 1st scene in the movie.
Cavates: Pressing the D-Menu (Disc Menu) will give you a Blue Screen.
You will then need to repeat the STOP/PLAY sequence.
However once the movie starts you can select scenes in the blind by
pressing INFO on the remote
using the up/down arrow on the remote
to select chapter then left or right arrow to the next chapters and press enter.
Stop,Pause, Fwd, FF, Bookmarking, A-B appear to be working ok.
Agreed this is crazy....
Looks like Samsung botched this series of firmware updates from 2.5-2.7
I will see if they fix it with the next firmware upgrade(s)...
If not then I will think twice about buying another SamSung BD Player
Otherwise I have enjoyed this player especially after putting a laptop cooling fan underneath
it to cool it off.
