Access Security on Network Drive on Windows XP PC

I am having trouble opening video files on DDD Tri-Def Media player for 3D. A message comes up saying I must review security settings on network drive. Can anyone tell me how to access this network drive and change the security setting? I am the administrator. I use the DVD-Rom drive labeled "E" on my computer if that is revelant. I use an ethernet port on my Windows XP computer to connect to another computer through a router.
