For example my Kds60a3000- could it take a theoretical 1080p @120hz signal and display it natively without any downconversion?
I know it simply takes 24p times two or 60i times four- but I mean actualy (way future) display a 120frame progressive source?

No!

No such signal exists and the bandwidth would be crazy!

AIUI no current TV set has 1080/120p capable HDMI input facilities. I suspect if people are configuring their graphics cards for 120Hz refresh then they are dropping down to 60Hz for output - as the EDID from the HDMI display will flag the screen as not accepting 120Hz.
