Marantz 5000 AVR hookup?

Greetings!,
I just got a Marantz 5000 receiver and the Manual doesn't go into details to well. lol

If anyone knows this receiver well. What is the best way to hook in your sub woofer?

Also I bought this for better music sound and I still have a vast collection of LP's. The receiver has no input for a Turntable. I ran it though the CD input and there's low sound output, so I bought a inline phono amp. Which makes it louder but extremely bright. Is there a better way to hook up a turntable to this amp?

PS this is my first post, good looking forum, I picked up on it from the theater spot. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Not real sure, but I have the SR8000. You should just have a LFE subwoofer connect that connects from the sub itself. That I believe should receive the low bass signal from the receiver.

However, I have no idea on your phono problem. With CD's I gave up on records long ago !!

I did a search here on the 5000 and a member stated the amp is set to do 80hz cross over. Not sure if this is when connected to the Mains or to one of the Pre-amp outs.

You'll get power out of one of the Pre-amp outs and maybe to much power. I had to lower my sub back to 9am from 1pm.

Anyone that has rangled with the 5000, if you could set me straight. The manual has no reference to the proper way to hook up your sub to this receiver. (No LFE out)

I have a HSU-V2 sub that has both Speaker connects and RCA's.

For those interested I called accessories.com the guys I got the receiver from at $350, nice guys/nice buy!.

On Marantz receivers you use the (Pre-amp) subwoofer out from the six available rca outputs for using external amplifiers. When you do this and set your front speakers to (small) you will get the set 80Hz crossover output. So you can set your subwoofer crossover all the way up. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Also if you set your front speakers to Large the set crossover will be at 100Hz's.

I went from a Yamaha receiver to the Marantz since it was so cheap. Have to say I like what I hear. Much better sounds for music. HT is clean and easy to listen to. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
The bass is strong out of the preamp out, my sub never kicks off for lack of signal.
