At this point in time, the 103PF10UK is meant for individuals who can afford to shell out over $70k. Not the most cost effective solution, but it contains the wow factor!

Actually with the required inspections, delivery and installation I believe the 103 inch is expected to come out to about $100,000 installed. Also yes it is available, this is a display that is most likely to be used in commercial installations (like stadiums etc.), however it may find its way into a few very elite homes.

What's the warranty on that?

It's a Panasonic professional model so the std warranty should be 2 years.

According to http://myhometheater.homestead.com/v...alculator.html and since I am sitting about 13 feet away from my tv, I would need a 116.3 diagional widescreen tv to meet the THX maximum viewing angle. Since I don't know of a tv that size, I will have to get this 103 inch tv instead and be non-complying by a bit (or move my chair 18 inches closer) or just be happy knowing that I can atleast meet the SMPTE minimum viewing angle.

What was I thinking when I bought my 42 inch tv?!?!?!? For a few dollars more I could have had it all!

It's not big enough for me

I thought they needed a cargo plane to ship this? or was that for the 150in version?

If you save the box it comes in, you can use it as a coffin (when your wife kills you for buying this), and thusly saving a bunch of money on your funeral.

You can also write off this tv on your taxes as a medical expense, if you have that condition where you need light treatments in the winter.

And you can save on home heating costs in the winter.

And you can save by using the tv for in-home teeth whitening instead of buying those kits.

It is beginning to sound like buying this tv is a sound financial decision.

You forgot to add that by bring up a white screen it works as a tanning booth. The 103 inch is an all around money saver!

You can find yourself with at least (12) 6020's + a 1080p projector over the 103.

Showcase Entertainment in Scottsdale, AZ has one on display in its store. I saw it in person a couple of weeks ago along with my wife. Her response was "I want THAT one!"

Yeah, I am a lucky man

You must have a large bank account, an american express charge card with no preset spending limit, or money to spend. Nice job!

Oh, I didn't buy one.

I currently don't have a room that could even accomodate it. I am going to have to fix that first. But it will be a factor when we are looking at new houses next year.

Hopefully, these monster sets will come down a little in the mean time...

Ohhh...I misread your post then. LOL! I was going to say, where's the pics? Yes they should start to come down within the next few years as we get to 70"-80" displays...

I had it, but I returned it because the SD performance wasn't up to par. Fox news appeared slightly blurry...

I will buy 2

One for the small tv room.

One for the bedroom.

I'm buying one! i like the idea of a moving wallpaper for my room

There has got to be a handfull of people that have that set somewhere on the AVS forum's.

But like someone said in a earlier post if you had that cash you would probably do what some of the other super high end guys on AVS do and purchase a 2k Barco projector (only a couple hundred thousand dollars) and have a Digital Cinema projector and screen in your home theatre.

For those of you who have not checked out the super high end AVS forum Dcinema group you are in for a surprise when you see some of those guys gear, its out of control! And we thought spending 5-10k on a Plasma was too much!

How do they even get this into homes? Especially second or third floors... Airlift? Build you home around your TV...

Chris, I am looking forward to that. I have high hopes for the new Panasonic plant coming online next spring.

When thinking about monster sets like the Panasonic 103, the price is just one of the hurdles though. Someone mentioned that they have seen it for $33k. People spend a LOT more than that on a new car every few years. Go with a Camry instead of a Lexus and you are a long way towards covering that price. Having a room which can actually accomodate it is at least as much of an issue.

And installation is non-trivial too. Its not like someone can have the store send over the delivery truck... "Yeah, just put it in the upstairs bedroom. Thanks!"

Although its important to factor in how much money such a set can save you. For example, a wall with one of these 103s with the right video loop is MUCH cheaper than actual beach front property

forklift; after the carpenters have removed/widened the door frames and reinforced the floor.

just guessing!

Personally, I can see the logic behind spending the price of a car on an AV set up. After all, which one is a person going to enjoy more? Which one does the average person spend more time using?

But spending the price of a HOUSE is definitely in a different league. I guess if you have the cash and nothing else to do with it, it can make sense. After you buy that Carribean island, of course

The warranty on the 103 is special in that it is three years parts and labor.

1.) Customer must provide rear panel access if service is needed.
(meaning if wall-mounted, you need to get it off the wall)

2.) Customer needs to provide AC power for the servicer.
(This puppy takes 220 VAC, you need to supply a 220 extention)

Most major clients have it installed with the entire rear area open into another room / tech area.

Notable private owners are Carol Burnett and Sly Stallone.

You can see one "live" most mornings on the TODAY show in some of their interview segments.

In the fall, you can see dual 103s along with a few 65s and 50s on NBC's "Football Night America"

Harpo Productions (Oprah Winfrey) has a 103 along with other smaller units.

American Idol, Access Hollywood, and Extra are also using 103s AFAIK.

In NYC, there is one at City Hall that Mayor Bloomberg uses for news conferences from time to time.
