Sorry if this post is in the wrong place but here goes:::

Ok I got the tv on the wall and I am going to run the cables through the wall and into a walk in closet where I will put the Direct Tv reciever and DVD player. I have purchased a Buffalo IR-350 Cabinet Mount IR Repeater and I also got the 250 model because I didnt know which would work best.

I placed my tv over the mantle that is a caddy corner. My question is where do I put the Repeater? of course I would like to hide it as much as possible. I thought about directly above the tv in the ceiling, but would I be able to "hit" the eye with the remote at that angle.

I will try to post a pic of the room tomorrow.

Thanks.

maybe you should get an RF repeater so distance isnt an issue.

In the ceiling would be tough; I don't think it would work well. I've got mine (same Buffalo stuff) behind my screen, but I'm running an AT projections screen, so that really wouldn't work for you. I can't really picture how your setup looks, but if you could mount it in the wall directly below your tv, that would probably work best.

One caveat-- I don't know what kind of tv you have, but many IR receivers have a hard time with plasma tvs, and even a few lcd tvs-- they throw off a lot of IR which interferes with the IR receiver.

Flush to the ceiling probably not a good idea, they usually have a fairly narrow pickup angle, so unless you're underneath it...

Best place probably under the TV, pointed at the seating area, as mentioned above. there are also many table-top type IR receivers out there too that might work better for that, it won't be hidden, but unless you have a cabinet or something you can bury a surface-mount in, then it might be a way to go.
