Greetings ALL!!
NEW to the world of home video entertainment and all that.. started off with wanting a ps3 and OBVIOUSLY needing the 50"+ tv to go with it...
LONG STORY SHORT:
got extremely LUCKY and got the deal of a lifetime(at least in my rookie experience)
check it..
Best Buy had a Samsung DLP 56" on clearance sale for $1300, since they were out they sent me to another best buy that had the same model on clearance for $1183!!! AFter getting home and realizing TV had already been opened and going back to BEST BUY to address this with a store manager, RECIEVED another 15% off, so in basics got the tv for only $983!!
Now to my problem...
I have noticed two "smear like" smudges on the lower left had corner..at 1st I thought they were actual smudges on the screen and I tried to clean them.. but they are not..
They really only appear and are noticable against a dark background, showing up almost as two lighted up smudges... i.e. in a movie when they are in a dark room or if playin video games and it goes to a all black load screen, then you see them. otherwise you really dont...
so my 3 main questions to you are..
1. what exactly are they and is this something I can fix or that I should be worried about?
2. Obviously I'm still within in my 1st 30 days of purchase, but thing is.. it was a clearance item and no store has this item any longer it would seem..
so as far as Best Buy is concerned what can or SHOULD I do.. i mean how would they handle this being that they no longer have this TV in that store? What would YOU guys do in my shoes?
3. regardless of what happens, Best Buy pitched a 4 years parts and labor warranty for $250, I have read online and even Consumer Reports that this is a BIG waste of money... but all my friends and family upon finding I went with a DLP have gone up in arms about me making this purchase, saying I'm a fool if I don't do it, based on lifespan's on DLP's.. what do you all say on that?
thank you and I hope you can find the time and patience to help a novice consumer like myself NOT get taken... I mean its only $1000 but still to me thats a LOT OF $$$
please do advise
the model of the TV is a:
Samsung HL-T5676SX/XAA
THANK YOU
