And those are only the tops, they are supposed to be used with bass modules for everything under 80Hz.

I just spit out my soda on that one-very funny.

The other funny comment I saw on AVS forum was I think the Hansen speaker and QQQ said, "do they have any that haven't melted".

I've always loved the Monitor Audio look. But the JM Labs/Focals have to be one of my favorites. The Revel Salons are awesome too.

Any other speaker manufacturers use a marble cabinet? I wish more speaker companies did. Resonance = zero, and the material is amazing to look at.

B&W Signature Diamond's tweeter uses a marble enclosure

I like the Thiel CS 3.7s...

Many of the speakers are far too busy for my tastes. I'd take a clean, classic styled speaker with a nice wood finish. I'd love to own any of these, and none of them are ridiculously priced either:

I was wondering with all these high dollar speakers..are they really worth the 30K, 74K, 100K+ price tag? Any one really get a chance to listen to a really high price speaker? Are they worth they money. I mean what I think what might be worth the money might be different than another persons reasoning, but come on. 100k speakers? Unless your in the music business in some way or another then maybe. Oh and I love those polks. and If were having a BBQ Ill bring the beer.

Ushers are quite cheap for some nice pieces of room decorations
post #135 of 244
How about some Magico Mini's...Gotta love $20,000 monitors that weigh 200 lbs w/ the stands, each.

Another vote for the B&W Signature Diamonds. These things are not only gorgeous to look at but are amazing sounding speakers.

Mark and Daniel Apollo

The cabinet is made of compound marble. Each speaker weighs around 256lbs.

Well, if this is a pissing contest, my Fostex LS/4 monitors are 208kg (459lbs) each.

! What kind of stands you use for those? They are not floor standing speakers.

Hah! Driven, I own Monitor Audio GS60, but I was about to post a couple pics of different Salks because I have become enamored with their looks. Those would have likely been my Song Tower example.

You beat me to it.

If you are directing your question to me, these monitors are designed for "soffit mounting" ... that is mounted in the wall, with the front of the monitor flush to the front wall of the room.

This is called 2-pi steradians or "half-space" mounting as opposed to freestanding speakers which are a 4-pi steradians or full-space mounting.

The construction techniques to do this are considerable, particularily when the speaker pair approaches one-half tons.

Here is an example of "soffit mounting", using a much smaller monitor:

PS. There are special floor-standing versions of these monitors designed for a 4-pi steradians full space application.

Coincidentally, I have a guitar with that same finish although I do not own the speaker here.

How about a second vote for the Kef Muon?

Those KEF look like something you would buy at the Sharper Image. Do they trim your nosehair? Give your feet a massage? heh
