Disappointed...

Two days ago I posted the results of my basic calibration of a neighbor's 37" LG LCD TV, and nobody has any comments or suggestions regarding the issues I had with the black level.

Others post similar material to mine, and within hours there are at least 10 responses/suggestions what to do different next time. Do I have a credibility issue here or something?

I really like this tech kind of stuff and enjoy having similar minds to bounce ideas off of, but when someone else's property is at issue, I'd appreciate some input.

regards,

Hi,

Holiday weekend, traffic is slow..

Also, If I remember right, you are calibrating a LG Plasma.. Are you using ColorHCFR and a meter (if so which one)?

btw, we have been focusing on Plasma calibration HERE (though mainly Pioneer Displays, but expanding).

A polite second request in the thread was the way to go. This is hardly deserving of it's own thread.

Nope - due to my dyslexia I said plasma but meant LCD. I apologized for the mixup in my O.P.

And uhh, when do you prefer to water your lawn - around sunrise or mid-day?

And I heard perennials were the way to go if you want low-maintenance yard plants.

Gee, I can't see why anyone would decide they wouldn't want to help you.

Sperron, I really didn't appreciate your comment: "This is hardly deserving of it's own thread." My post was on-topic and quite similar to many others who have posted their results and either asked for tips or gotten suggestions involuntarily.

I'm just frustrated because I viewed - still do - AVS Forums with a spirit of community and helpfulness. What you said didn't exactly "hurt", but it wasn't nice. And so I posted something off-topic(perennial flowers) so as to suggest that my post was on-topic and worthy of at least some tips/advice.

I treat others as I am treated -that's how I was brought up.
If some one is kind to me, I return the kindness.
If someone rubs me the wrong way, I return the favor so they can taste their own medicine.
If I receive a wise-acre comment, I give one back.
ALL ideas here, with regards to the subject of calibration or other AVS topics, are special, because they reflect the posters who posted them.

Think before you judge the relevance or belittle someone else's thread or post before someone hands it back to you.

It's that simple.

I think

Jones, three things happened here.

#1. I posted the results of calibrating my neighbor's LG LCD TV.

#2. Sperron belittles the post suggesting, "This is hardly deserving of it's own thread."

#3. I reacted to Sperron's comment with a little sarcasm, but then later explained my sarcasm and suggested that he think before saying what he posted in his reply.

What else happened?

regards,

You created an entire thread just to complain about no one looking at a post you made in a completely different thread with no link for anyone to go back to the original thread to make the comments you are asking for. The least you could do is go back and edit in a link to the post you wish examined. As of now Michael TLV already weighed in on your post here.

A thread was already open for your particular topic. An additional thread was unnecessary and apparently an act out of frustration/desparation IMHO. Sorry...

Frankly, that may very well be a contributing issue.

Aside from my cutting back on the political jabs, please explain how.

Thank you.

How was my posting before/after basic calibration results for a LG 37" LCD an act of frustration/desparation?

What is going on in this sub-forum?? You're all making me feel like George Foreman trying to sell his grills at a vegetarian conference!

Posting your question/observations in ONE thread is great. Posting a gripe in a totally new thread because you weren't getting an answer quick enough (frustration/desparation) is unnecessary.

This is not a "sub-forum"... just an additional thread with a wimpering cry of complaint. And... George Forman grills work great with foods other than meat products too.
