Help New Owner Of Samsung Ln52a650 Can Current Owners Chime In And Help?

thanks for taking the time to read my issue well i just bought this samsumg at brandsmart everything looked great box didnt look beat up and it even had a sticker on the side that said new firmware has been applied to this television so i was like ok great... so i take it home plug everything in turn it on and notice which looks like a small smudge that covering about 4 pixels on the screen it almost looks like four stuck pixels that are grey and is located at the center of the screen anyone else experience this?? i really love this tv but is this a known issue with lcds?? to have stuck pixels i only ask because iv been through 3 brand model tv's sony 40kdls3000 then i bought a sony kdl52xbr4 and now this samsung has the same thing !! and on all the sets it can only be seen if you are up close on a black screen thanks for the info

NO, mine doesn't, sounds like it is defective. Return it for another one. It will on make you mad if you keep it. If you think this is common and is on LCD's go check it out in the store and see if there sets have the same issue. I doubt it.

How far do you have to stand back not to see? I would take it back for an exchange, stuck/dead pixels can always be a nusense there are ways to fix them but if you are in the return policy I would take full advantage, that is an amazing set and I think you should give it another shot.

I received my new 52-650 yesterday from b&h and haven't had time to evaluate the lcd yet. I can tell you the bezel is delaminating and loose by about 3/8" on the upper right side. I'll let you know how I make out.

Anybody seen one of these before?

That is a damage tv so I return that sucker for another one right away.

And by the way, there is an owner thread for A650.

Thanks man. b&h appears to be closing for a holiday, Shavuot? I was kinda surprised, always had good luck with b&h. We'll see what they propose, no returns over 37" you know. Anyway, Thanks!

Did the styrofoam crush or break when you open the box? It looks to me like somebody probably dropped it on it corner. I would argue with them that it is a damage unit so they need to send you another one free of charge, picking up the damage unit at their expense.

I don't think they can just tell you to deal with Samsung with the damage tv like that. It's definitely a damage during transit.

This is why you should just pony up the extra cash and buy it at CC or BB. Can always return it!

The Styrofoam was/is intact, could be faulty clip/adhesive or whatever else they attach that plastic with. Yeah, I suppose that $400 may have been well spent. B & H auto reply tells me they will be reading Emails on Wednesday. Probably not the end of the world.

Heck, I saved over $800 buying my tv online vs BB/CC. Forget that. Also Consumer Reports states that only 3% of new tv's have issues.

B & H has said they are willing to refund or exchange, however, still unclear on the shipping. I have got to say it would be really tough to return a pixel perfect display in hopes that the bezel on the new set is pure and attached properly. I am pretty good with a caulking gun. Maybe I can get a new bezel without the bubbles and VHB that baby.

As a final follow-up, I had the 650 replaced by B & H. Unfortunately the next one had a scratched bezel and a rub mark on the panel. You will find me on the A750 owners site, if all goes well with the CC purchase. Darn it, I really liked the look of that 650. Props to B & H for prompt delivery schedules, shipping credit and no BS on the returns, I'll use them again.

Well... I thought this was a wrap, however, now we don't know when the shipper will actually deliver this RMA to B & H for review. Ready to go past 30 days on original order, not a good place to be. I'll let you know.

Sorry man, I tried (2) 650's and ended up returning both. I now have the an LN52A750. I don't know what Samsung was thinking, no mechanical fastener for the Bezel? I thought of using some very high bond (VHB) double face tape when I was going to fix the first one. Thats as far as I got. Sorry no help. I would get to somebody that cares at Samsung and offer to pay to ship whatever they suggest to fix it. Best of luck, its just not fair.
