I got my hands on a second hand Kuro ( European LX-5090 ) and I wonder if there's something wrong with the set.

When using Kuro as a computer monitor, instead of uniform dark grey boxes i am getting boxes with significantly brighter edges. Is this normal operation or a fault?

Sounds like a calibration issue more than a panel problem. It would be a strange panel malfunction that just added brighter edges. What happens when you lower sharpness?

Well, I still haven't found a setting which would eliminate this problem. The three top rows do all exhibit the same symptom. Between IRE6 - IRE10 the glowing edges are most pronounced.

Luckily this is something which is hardly visible during normal viewing. Just wondering if there is something wrong with the set. I did as you suggested and lowered the sharpness setting to -10 but this seemed to help only a bit. All the other enchantments are off.

A -15 setting for sharpness the same as turning it off on my Kuro. Try that.

Pioneer Kuro 5010 issue:

Not sure where I should post this. Hopefully someone can give me direction if I should post this elsewhere. My 5010 is 4 years old. Recently it occasionally shuts off on it's own and the blue power indicator light starts flashing. Owner manual says to wait a minute and turn TV back on. I do that and all is well until it does it again. I have plenty of clearance behind the TV. Owner manual says this happens when internal temp increases. All vents are dust free it seems.
Anyone have this issue and resolve it from happening? Is it a known issue of a certain internal part? Any help appreciated.

Yes, it seems that -15 is the correct setting for sharpness. Still, that didn't solve the problem.
However setting the video type to "Colour-4" (RGB 0-255) under HDMI input settings solved the problem I feel kinda stupid

Just watched Madonna's halftime show on my 5020FD and damn did it look fantastic. There was so much black in that show.

Looking at a 6020 with just 2000 hours on it. April 09 build. Reciept from sellers original purchase checked out and they are willing to ship it truck freight to my house. What would be a good price to pay for this shipping included. Not looking for the price we wish we could pay but an actual what its worth price. The price he wants includes the shipping from the east coast to washington state

I don't know the market for 6020s, but I would be willing to pay about $2,000 if my 6010 died. I would also want to have D-Nice calibrate it.

If it was a 151 and I could pick it up myself, after checking out it's performance, I'd go up to $3,000.

You mentioned you have a 6010, I have a 5010 and a 111, that 5010 is a nice display. The last ones made with parts manufactures in Japan.

I am thinking about selling my 6020 and wanted to know how to check the number of hours on the set. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I do not have the original box. Therefore, if I were to ship the display can anyone recommend a service or company that will pack the display properly and also a reliable shipper.

Haha yeah, and one that keeps it upright. Good luck with that. HIGHLY inadvisable. My monitor came on Pilot air freight. The first one didn't even make it to my region's terminal....DOA super smash!! The next one came delivered to my door without a scratch. Go figure. Don't know if that helps or not haha. I work with freight companies daily. It's a crap shoot with ANY and ALL of them. I'd pick a top tier and go for it (UPS Freight, FED EX "your plasma ex", ect...). But it all depends on your points A and B. Different companies specialize in different routes just like airlines. You'll have to do some research and quoting if you don't want to get robbed.

If it were me I'd have too much anxiety over it. I recommend selling in your area. Also, if you do decide to ship it, get the details on the "insurance" and what it "is" not "implies". You might not get the check you want if it gets smashed. Then you'll be real happy lol. Just saying cause I've had it happen to me before.

I'm finally toying with the idea of mounting my Kuro 6020, any ideas or suggestions for a good wall mount? The reason I ask is it seems that alot of the standard brackets won't fit the Kuro's mounts on the back as they are spaced farther apart than most sets.

I believe this one will work with the 850x500 pattern that a 6020 evidently requires.

I recently bought Lumagen with Chromapure. I am trying to do some basic calibration to my Kuro but I am not sure how to do the white balance calibration. I understand I should use the Kuro's settings. For the rest I'll use the autocalibration on Chromapure.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi D-NICE. Hope all is well with you. I have not been on the forum for quite some time. After Pioneer left the business there didn't seem to be much point and my 7th and 8th generation Pioneers are still as good as it gets it seems to me. I'm not sure if you are still up on what goes on in the flat panel world but if you are I could use some advice. You were always one of the most knowledgable individuals on the forum. I need a 50-60 inch flat panel and was wondering what you would recommend. I would assume that the Panasonic and Samsungs are the current best plasmas but saw some disturbing comments about both on cnet. How about LED's at this point? Thanks. Ned.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback!! Yeah, I've been recommending Monoprice to all my friends now. You can't beat their price or selection! I got the mount, 2 wall plates for cord drops, & 2 6 ft HDMI cables for $152 with shipping. The style of mount I used goes for $300-$600 alone on other sites.
