Hooked it up and ummm lets just say that I'll be calling Pioneer to see if something is wrong with it. It looked fine when the previous owner hooked it up to his ps3 but never got to a really dark scene. If he had it ISF calibrated would there be consequences to the different modes on the set? I'm getting some bad artifacts and just weird pictures on everything except for Optimum and Performance mode. Its also looking like I've got the red tint issue as well. The 6010 I have looks alot better then this set. I could see how the blacks are better on the 6020 but there is a red tint to the blacks which doesn't impress me. I'm not sure if the video processor is messing up or something but take a look at the pictures below. I've defaulted the movie mode and standard mode.
Thank god I have warranty still but something doesn't seem right. Basically any dark scene has bad artifacts except when in Performance or Optimum mode. Any suggestions? The set is tolerable on the performance and optimum mode but might as well get it fixed if there's some kind of issue going on.
*Just as I posted I looked into the settings and basically it doesn't matter what mode, if Film mode is on Advance - the picture looks correct other than the slight red tint. However, when it's on the other modes the picture looks pretty bad in any darker scenes.*
*Reading the red tint thread maybe my set is normal in that regard. Letterboxes look slightly red to my eyes when I adjust my eyes to the set in a dark room but if I take a look at a white screen then back to the kuro it looks pitch dark. Maybe I'm trying to look for it too hard but when I have no source the screen looks slightly red when my eyes adjust to the screen in pure darkness but once again if i look at a computer them back it looks pitch dark until it adjusts again. One weird thing I see in a dark room is some weird blotching right when I turn the TV set on without input. This blotching is in random spots more in the middle which is slightly red on a dark grey background. The after a few seconds the set gets darker. I do not see that on my 6010. Is that normal?Edited by ajsimeon - 2/26/13 at 7:32pm
