More thoughts. There is a buzz from the back but I can only hear it when I put my head behind the TV. I'm 27 years old so my hearing is still 90% there. The power button or on switch was tricky to find, lower left corner. I thought you just hit the on button on the side, I was freaking out for a sec when nothing happened, then I read the manual.
HD pictures are stretched and I can't seem to get them to normal size. I think I tried everything on the Pinoneer. When I have Discovery HD on, the logo in the lower left is cut off. I have a few other HD channels with the logo cut off and you can tell the image is off the screen. I have an SA 8300 DVR cable box, is there anything I can do to fix this? My old set didn't have an issue with this. Everything was displayed in HD.

its the settings between your 9g and cable box, try putting ova and have you tried adjusting it via the remote? try watching dvd or something else, fianly you could get a picture thing that determines if its overscan issue although its HIGHLY UNLIKELY lol its just a settings adjustments


btw it looks to me you used flash mode, would you try iso mode?

Nice. What stand is that? Are the shine from the bezel or the screen distractive? Pics of the wife in summer clothing.

The bezel is very reflective but the screen isn't. I'm not viewing in daylight so I will know better tomorrow.

The size of the set is deceiving in the pictures all except for the pictures with your girlfriend (?) in the picture.

So, I looked everywhere and I can't find a solution. This is going to drive me nuts. The SA 8300 on HD channels definitely has an overscan issue some how. The Pioneer displays a little more of the right side logo but not all of it in dot by dot picture mode. Anyone else have a Pioneer with an SA 8300 connected via HDMI?

Thanks for the pics man. I think you need a BD player just for some 1080p goodness! The guys in the BD forum have a good sticky of reference-quality discs.

I have never had a SA box, but on the motorola set top boxes, you press menu when it is powered off and it brings up a menu that will let you adjust screen resolution and format. I'll look online to see if I can help you.

Thanks, I tried that as well. I have 1080i for HD and 480p for SD enabled. I also tried enabling all of them, 720p and 480i, with no luck.

have you tried other source like i suggested? if this is an idication of the cable box then well atleast its not your tv

sorry cant seem to help i have Directv and would never get cable sigh i only have cable internet because i have no choice for dsl and despite of the contesnt drop off and techs visit cable blows...

anyways if settings didnt work under the box and other source work then did the box just took a crap? try the box same settings as kuro but on the other tv

kkgsxr it sounds like you have youre cable box or tv set to zoom or stretch

maybe setting youre cable box picture size to normal and if the 5020 has similar settings to the 5080 it should be set to FULL format

hope its as simple a problem as this ..

Have you cycled through the 6020's different zoom modes?

Did you try pressing # on the 8300 remote?

Doesn't the panel have a 1:1 Mode? There shouldn't ever be any stretching if the view mode is set to 1:1 with HD 1080 source aka Dot Mode in a Sharp.

I forget what Pio calls their 1:1 view mode.

The strange thing is when I hit the # key it does nothing. It did before, now it doesn't do anything. I now think this is my problem. I tried looking at a dvd but it is hard to tell if it is overscaning. It is much easier to tell on the cable box. Any way to cycle thought the stretches on the box it self?

Press Settings and go to Picture size to change zoom.

I don't have picture size as a setting.

Tried that and no luck, only get a few pixels back.

Same happened to me. new owners, please pay attention to avoid heart attack

press Settings twice to go in General settings and go to Set Picture format, then select Pass-Through.

If you think that upconverted DVD's to 1080i looks good, Just wait until you see blu-ray on that baby. Its a whole other level. Get a PS3 and enjoy blu-ray, HD games (COD4), and web-browsing.

Man, If I could only find a woman near me that owns a kuro. It would be a match made in heaven.

It was an easier assumption, not many women ride gsxr's and even less will have a gsxr and a brand new Pioneer.

I would trying connecting your SA 8300 directly to the 6020, if you're connecting through a receiver. It may be an issue with the receiver (maybe a setting).
