Is Amazon delivery through CEVA (Eagle) actually "white glove?"

One of my friends had a Samsung 6 series delivered through them this weekend (TV was purchased at Amazon). According to him, the driver was not at all cooperative in terms of setting it up.

I just had my 5020 delivered by ceva and they were great. There were two people to bring in the unit, unbox and plug in. Great service, considering i paid nothing for the shipping. Great deal at amazon plus the service on shipping.

No, its a reality.

The economy has finally trumped the falling Us dollar.

Panasonic, samsung, Lg have all reduced their pricing 10-15%. Its hard to justify a $4000 display when you cannot pay for the staples on a month to month basis.

I truly anticipate a drop in Pios pricing of 20% by september.

Sometimes depends on the local subcontractor making the delivery.

I was hoping the economy would not affect Kuro buyers

I couldn't pass up the newest price on Amazon and just ordered a 5020. I had a $50 credit from an HD DVD player purchase from December so the price was even a little lower. I had been contemplating getting a 5010 at Costco or the 5020 at Amazon. With Costco the 5% sales tax made the two sets closer in price.

No, you make a valid point Roman. Kuro buyers are genuinely immune, however, this economy has cut into another class or two of buyers residual income.

Look, I dont want to paint a dismal picture, but there will be over 80 billion dollars more of written off bad mortgages this year and this has to play out. The property wealth that was inherent in our homes 2 yrs ago has completely dissipated. Check out freddie and fanny news today. It is simply unprecedented, the greed and fraud.

I wish I could honestly claim this for myself but the Kuro is a form of escape from my own dismal health problems.

In any case, I delayed and the 5020 price has rebounded considerably on Amazon this evening.

Both times Amazon deliverd my televisions only one guy showed up. After the first time I called them and talked to the India guy and complained about having to help unload the truck with my work clothes on. He said "I am sorry as this Sir is happining to you, Please hold" over and over again, and told me that the replacement shipping would definitly be white glove. But of course, replacement came and only one delivery driver again! And the TV was in an empty truck and wasn't even strapped to the wall. and the box had forklift holes in it. And of course the unit was D.O.A. no doubt. the guy from India I talked to must have not heard a word I said or couldn't understand me probably. Thats the beauty of amazon customer service, Once you get off of the phone with them, your on your own again.
All I can say is good luck to you guys who are buying from them. If you have issues with your TV and need a replacement I really hope you don't have to go thru what I did.
There was an AVS member a while back that Amazon rejected a replacement for while he was still in the 30-day return period. They claimed that he did not buy enough from amazon to warrant being kept as an amazon customer, therefore his return was denied. Does anyone remember who that was??
good luck guys.

I ordered a Samsung 46" LCDTV last year through Amazon...1 guy/1 gal arrived to help set it up without a hitch. I found it was too MURA-ridden to keep and contacted Amazon who told me to contact Samsung first, which I did. I then told Amazon that Samsung's answer was unsatisfactory so they sent someone (this time only a single-person delivery, mind) to deliver a replacement TV and pick up my old one for no charge, and no other questions asked.

Of course, any retail outlet as large as Amazon is certainly going to have its fair share of horror stories.

I only got 1 delivery guy too, and I live on the 3rd floor so I carried the TV upstairs with him. He was extremely courteous and helpful though.

It will go up and down 'multiple' times....just keep checking. In the past I've seen newer displays have price changes (up and down) daily.
Always have our forum sponsors as well.

inches max if you don't want to have the TV too high. A 60 inch TV is very
tall which means the center of the screen will be high. You want that to be
at (or close to) eye level. Glancing upwards every so often is okay, but having
to look upwards for hours can strain your eyes (or neck, depending on how
you look upwards).

My 6020 is above my fireplace. The bottom edge of the screen is about eye level and I'm 10' away. I do not find this too high. In fact when I recline my seat it's great..... my previous TV's mid-screen height was at eye level and I found in the reclined position I had to prop my head up to see it.

YMMV

Eagles, You need the 151 man.
With your obsession with PQ the elite might be the better choice.
Although the PQ of the 6020 is absoloutly amazing, For me It is hard to have a Tv that only has the following settings:
1.AV selection (movie,optimum,dynamic,etc.)
2.Brightness
3.Sharpness
4.Color
5.Tint
6.Contrast
7 Pure cinema selection (ADV,SMOOTH,etc.)

With my asthma...I would have had to choose between no TV or possible death in that situation. For a Kuro...possible death might have been a risk worth taking!

Just kidding....sorta...

I have been watching the 5020 price on Amazon for the past week or so. Today in dropped in price by @$164, (at which point I pulled the trigger, thank you very much) and now it went back up and is currently @$80 below what it was yesterday.

I don't know what the economy or the falling dollar will do over the next year to the price of KUROs, but todat's example does show there is a lot more involved in the day-to-day pricing than the US economic situation as a whole.

My advice for those with itchy trigger fingers is to watch the prices (if we are still talking about Amazon) several times a day, if not hourly. When you see a dip you like, pull the trigger. In my case, there was another $40 dip while I was completing the purchase. The 30 day guarentee will take care of the rest. (Sorry for the long reply.)

I have an Oppo 981 HD DVD player connected to the 6020 via HDMI and also an older Sony DVD player that only does 480i out over component.

I tried the Oppo up-scaling to 1080p versus the Sony outputting 480i

The end result was similar in sharpness and detail etc. but the colours were much richer from the Oppo.

That said.... I was very impressed with what the 6020 can do with a 480i signal via component in.

Or instead of spending all that time waiting on the price to drop, you could just buy from a forum sponsor for probably less than amazon and with much much much better customer service. We need to support the ones who support this forum!

I understand your point obviously The main point is that price is not everything for sure! That being said I have nothing against Big River

I think most of them will match it at least, yes. You still don't get that 30-day return period or price guarantee from any besides Amazon, I don't believe.

Those are great benefits, but remember sponsors have allot more to loose being on the forum (in terms of taking care of clients)

True true...I was considering purchasing from one of you before this Amazon drop. Going on a trip shortly so will have to weigh my options again when I return.

Man.....I can't wait to get my hands on a 6020! I just got done reading this entire thread...very insightful and I am now convinced that a 6020 is the way to go for me!

the Pro150 had no price drops during the model run but would be nice if Pioneer did drop the msrp some more on the new big elites that would mean the 6020s would drop too.

sad that only $5-700 is holding you from getting a pro151 that you could be watching and enjoying now.

I think....I think...that maybe I could get away with that (with my wife) at a price $500-$700 lower, but that ain't gonna happen. I'll get the 6020 and be satisfied with. Especially considering D-Nice's most recent accomplishments with the calibration of non-Elites.
Did I miss the post where he completely figured it out? I mean on the non Elites.
Been going back and forth on the 5020 and the panny 800. Just pulled the trigger on the 5020. Question is now what? I need to upgrade dvd player!! I read alot about Oppo - any other suggestions? My cable company (knology) has a pathetic hd selection. Direct or Dish? Any suggestions on these questions will appreciated. I will be beaking in the 5020 with either the break-in disc or the usb slide show.
