It's also rated for 250lb, and is a 3-stud model (instead of 2 like most mounts) so it should definitely hold the weight for a very long time.

This is overkill the 6020 only weighs approx 120lb without the stand. Fastening into two studs will be plenty.

Sanus low profile mounts are good and about 1.5" deep which will be enough clearance. This will also give you an ample 3" of space for the turn radius of the hdmi cable when it's plugged into the awkwardly positioned hdmi ports.

Sorry if it has been answered for good elsewhere but, are the 9G Kuro brighter for daytime viewing in an uncontrolled environment?
ferro,

Any black/white crush? Loosing any details in the shadows that should be there? Things like dark hair look like a blob or finely detailed hair?

With my 7g Pioneer, the panel turned off isn't very black(medium gray). So during the day, the darkest the blacks would be could not be any darker than that shade of gray.

How is the 9g in this regard during mid day room lighting?

Absolutely agree. Technically, one stud could hold the weight of the 6020. The weak point of hanging a flat panel TV is the lag screws/bolts and what kind of shear stress they can handle. I'd be more weary of a mount that uses smaller diameter bolts than one that uses 2 vs. 3 stud mounting. You would ultimately get the same holding strength by just using 3 bolts each on a 2 stud mount (compared to 2 bolts each on a 3 stud mount).

From the Elite Cut sheet (Elite-only feature):

You are correct. That's exactly what I was told by my contact. I'll take full blame for the mis-information.

Right. Amazon uses a special shipping service that fills the delivery truck with marshmallows to protect your TV.

Amazon's TV shipping success rate is no better than any other company who uses a reputable shipping company. The difference is that when a random shipping accident happens, what kind of service do you get from the dealer? Sixtysixpony smartly purchased from a great dealer like Chris at Cleveland Plasma. He didn't have to go through Amazon's nightmarish customer support center to get another TV shipped. Go check out resellerratings and specifically look for TV purchase reviews. Compare Amazon's reviews to Cleveland Plasmas.

i understand pioneer trying to differentiate their lines - but people that want a no frills tv are not going to buy a pio.

i hope I'm wrong - maybe dnice will say that if you press the xyz button on the remote - you can change the temp or maybe he will have a work around.

or maybe pio knows best (big brother) and i should just shut up and follow them blindly.

I agree. Pioneer should be adding more features, not taking them away. Personally speaking, that's a deal breaker for me, and now can only consider the Elite model, which may be what Pioneer is trying to accomplish in the first place. I think Pioneer will take a hit on this mistep, and hopefully will reconsider. Well, I guess you can't have everything come up roses in the land of Kuro.

Thanks!

I didn't have an 8g Kuro so I can't compare. I have seen them at my local electronics store, but they weren't configured correctly.

This info would be useful to me in mounting my Peerless One-TP wall mount prior to delivery of my 6020. Thanks in advance.

(If Pioneer had a PDF of the manual available, I'd try to find this info myself.)

Sure, the mounting holes are:
Horizontal 33 1/2"
Vertical 19 3/4"
12" in from the edge of the display.

Thanks for the info. How far are the bottom holes from the bottom of the display? (not including the speaker). Thanks.

There was talk of a redesigned remote. Can someone share a picture of what it looks like? Backlit?
Ok... Call me a noob... but can someone explain to me the whole color temp thing and why it would be such a big deal that you couldn't choose it on the 6020's? Thanks!

The bottom holes are about 7 3/4" up.

Color temp refers to the image being warm (< 6500'K) or cool (> 6500'K) relative to neutral (6500). Neutral is the standard for accurate reproduction of color film and video.
Some people prefer a slightly cool temp because it makes the image appear more blue (warm = red, cool = blue), which is aesthetically more pleasing to most than too red and tends to make the color white appear whiter (blue white), though this is really an illusion. If you can't adjust the temp, you are stuck with whatever the set came from the factory at.

No, it is not backlit.

Remember, though, D-Nice suggested there might not be such a thing as an
elite vs. non-elite after this gen. Next year, we might only see elite-type TVs
with all the bells and whistles and the signature series for those who want a
monitor type (sorta reminiscent of what the elite was in the first place).

BTW, that 're-designed' remote posted by kkgsxr doesn't look like much of a
re-design at all. All they did was move the numberpad up, the directional pad
down and exposed the media/dvd buttons, for the most part. Sigh...

Seems like Pioneer is going well out of their way to cripple the xx20 sets and push their already small potential customer base towards the Elites. Yet, Europe gets to retain the adustable settings. Wtf.....???
Basically, the color temperature is how the greyscale looks. If you had a test pattern with boxes that went from black to white in steps with shades of grey in between they will look correct if the color temp is correct. If the color temp is too cool (Blue) then the pattern will look like it has a blue tint to it. If the color is too warm(Red) then the whole pattern will look like it is tinted Red. If the color temp is correct then white will look white and not bluish or redish. When the color temp is not right then it throws off the look of all of the colors and white and black also.
Many tv's allow you to chose which color temp setting you want to use (including last years Pioneer's). Usually the warm setting is closest to being correct but some people choose one of the other settings because it can make the whites look brighter (but less accurate).
Once D-Nice evaluates the new Kuro he will be able to tell us what settings the tv uses and how accurate they are.

In sweden we only get the elite modells but they dont call it elite or non elite. We get two modells an call them X090/X090H and the differents will be hd tuners and DLNA streaming only in the more expensive tv ( H modell ). ( maby a "pure" mode in settings but that is not sure yet) i have a pre order at the little more expensive modell and i hope i get it in 19-20 june or something.

but its more expensive in Sweden i think. if i translate it to dollars i will pay 5500 dollar for a 50 inch ( 5090H )

This sounds similar to what car companies due in the US.
Toyota -- Lexus
Honda -- Acura
non-Elite -- Elite

I have an Acura and it has a honda engine, .1 liter larger than the honda accord. It is almost the same car just with a few more bells and whistles. I can be driving the poor mans honda, I need to have car one level higher (status thing). I am joking but that is how seems to be in the US. In other countries they don't have the same manufacturer using different names for cars, maybe that is why Pioneer only sells one version.

£2400 for a 5090 in UK is considered a good deal. That's $4600 US. There is no equivalent 5020 model in Europe and they are paying US Elite prices for the 5090.
Yes in sweden we pay more than they in UK

Sweden : 5090 = 5000 dollar and 5090H = 5500 Dollar
post #358 of 14721
D-nice, do you or your contact know how to get into the 6020's service menu?

I fully agree. Most TVs in the $200 range have this option!

My guess is that Pioneer is trying to sucker, I mean persuade Pioneer fans to buy the Elite line if you want to tweak. Especially considering that the Pioneer's profit margin is likely much higher on the Elites.

Sucker isn't the right word because there is a performance difference. If there wasn't that would be applicable.
