Sorry, by no means I want to incite 5020FD owners (I am 5020FD owner too).
By and large, this is for prospective owners.
"Generally better" means that PZ800U provides much better value for money.
While I totally agree with gwsat
(competition is tight, the difference is minimal), I also agree with Cnet's ranking order.
I have owned both TVs. The 5020FD has somewhat deeper black but the difference IMO is negligible.
Colors on PZ800U look little more friendly and realistic out of box.
I was looking for 1080p plazma with good 24p and scaling. PZ800U failed with 24p. 5020FD failed with scaling. For the extra $$ I paid for 5020FD I can get free cable TV including HBO HD Movie for one year.

This is typical "Honey! Honey!" review. Actually this is not a review, this is an opinion.
It does not contain meaningful information for comparison. The "reviewer" is talking about Panasonic models of the past. The new PZ800U is not even mentioned there.
