rp bulbs go bad??

I have a sony Sony A2000 series tv. About half the life of the bulb as hit, I host movie nights on weekends and the tv is on more than most RP tvs. I'd like to keep a spare on hand just in case the current one goes bad. Do the gas in the bulb ever go bad?? do you think its okay to have an extra one in hand for least a year before replacing??

Bulbs will not go bad just sitting. Store with your other light bulbs and you'll be cool

I had a spare DLP bulb for over two years and it worked fine when I needed it.

In the past three years I have always kept a spare lamp and they have always worked 100% when installed.

Maybe I was just unlucky, but I bought a relpalcement bulb shortly after buying my first RP LCD. When the TV's bulb went out after a couple of years I put the new one in and everything was great, for about 3 months. I had to buy a 3rd bulb. I hadn't even opened the replacement bulb's packaging and it was sitting on a closet shelf for about two years before I had to use it.
