A festival of 70mm films and prints (apparently shot that way and not 35 blown up to 70), happening now. I now see the series ends today, so this whole thread is rather useless. But it might inspire some people to keep on the lookout for what the American Cinematheque is up to.
As Technicolor couldn't do 70mm, you probably don't have the separation matrices, so you are at the mercy of the copyright owners' ability to conserve the camera negative. Many 70mm prints I have seen after the fact have decidely gone toward the magenta.
Still, seeing the incredible clarity of fine-grained stock at around 4 times the resolution can be a revelation.
