2008 Samsung HL67A750 LED DLP owners thread - Page 76

To all the tech gurus in this thread,
What is the bottom line to enjoy 3D picture on my Samsung HL67A750?
What do I need to buy and from where, if possible?

I believe that Samsung used to offer a transmitter and glasses, but they are no longer available. Are they offering any similar products?

Regards.

Red led circuit board burnt out again, what a drag...Atleast I bought the extended warranty. Will be selling the unit after repairs. Shame

What is a comparable tv in size and picture to the hl67a750?

Either look at mitsu and their new 837 line, or maybe a plasma from Panasonic, Their new v10 series goes up to 65 inches.

Sorry to hear about your TV.

I'm watching American Idol on my 67 right now, and love this set to death. On D* 1080, Idol is especially sharp and vivid. Here's a small question though, there's a small piece of something stuck to the screen (might even be dried food somehow), and I'm wondering how to go about cleaning it off. I'd hate myself if I managed to scratch the screen surface, and figured I'd ask here first. Any ideas?

Like the other guy said, the Panasonic sets are excellent. Both the S1 and V10 series sets are available in 65", and look great. I personally have a 58S1 in my basement, and while it has an even better picture than this Samsung, being a plasma, it's naturally darker, and better suited to dark room viewing. The V10 is an even better set, Panasonic's flagship actually, and has built-in THX calibration, among other top level features.

I really wanted to buy the 65 version of the S1, but didn't have the extra $$ at the time.

So, nobody has cleaned the inside of their unit? Guess if I were asking about 3d capabilities I'd get an reply

Surely I'm not the only one interested in getting the dust off the interior parts of my set to provide me with a cleaner picture.

My red just went out and it's getting fixed under warranty this weekend (main power supply went 2 weeks prior, sad for only owning it a year). Is this common?

I'm curious if anyone knows what this would cost out of warranty. I really don't want to be buying another set but my warranty is up after this repair.

Search the thread, it's been discussed. If I remembered it off the top of my head, I'd tell you.

My blue went out. Not being sure if it was board or LED I had it
repaired cost $311 parts (LED) and labor. Technician told me 99%
of failures were the LED. I'll replace myself next time for a $87 LED. I've
had set set since they came out and used 10-12 hours a day.

Cleaned the mystery spot off with Plexus, worked perfect. Thanks for helping...or not.

I use Monster's ScreenClean, but it's pretty pricey. I just ordered this from Monoprice it looks the same and is quite inexpensive.

So when I play Avatar: The Game in 3D is it only displaying at 540p? Is each eye is only getting half the 1080p signal because HDMI 1.3 apparently can't do full 1080p 3D like 1.4 can? Will we still have the same problem with Blu-ray 3D?

Heads up

Panasonic 11G/12G black levels have seemingly doubled over night?

Finally had the repairman come out. Will be replacing a video board later this week. Repairman had seen this problem before (green "waves"/outlines), just not on this set. Said these have been rock solid performers. Hopefully mine will be after it's fixed.

Video Board replaced - good as new.

Where are you sourcing the LED from? I've had no issues with my set at all, but if one of the LEDs was to fail, I would replace it myself assuming you can buy the LED.

Has anybody tried the Panasonic DMP-BDT350 3D Blu-ray player? It's supposed to support checkerboard output.

I should have mine in the next two weeks... however, since it supports checkerboard output (and has been tested with the Mits DLP's) we should be good to go.

The Panasonic 3d blu ray player works on my 67A750, with no problems. I use mode 2 when using the 3d feature on the display.

Cheers

I would like to hear more about the Panasonic DMP-BDT350 3D Blu-ray player.

Did you have to have the mitsibishui 3d adaptor to make it work or does it just plug and play?

What 3d blu-rays have you tested it with? Is the quality better/worse/same as in the theater?

Would you recommend it? I have a PS3 and wondering if I should hold out and see what their solution is going to be.

Any comments/review you would have would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks.

I don't have one, but no, you don't need the Mits converter for this BD player, as it outputs the required checkerboard format for this display.

Thanks for the partnumber, I found a couple of sources. Much appreciated.

Inadvertently posted this in the 61" thread, so I'll repost it here.

I noticed recently that the plastic screen on my HL67A750 rattles during deep bass in a movie soundtrack. My new sub also rattles, but that is a question for a different thread. There are clearly two sources of the rattle, at different times.

Anyone else notice the screen rattling? Any fixes out there? My next step is to move the subwoofer in an attempt to mitigate the problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Everyone,

Looking for some answers, hoping someone can shed some insight. I have the 67" and near the bottom, in the middle region, when I see a white background or bright colors, not dark, i can see this spot of 'yellow' thats about 1/2 inch that radiates to the middle of the screen in a fan shape. I can see this area even when the TV is turned off. I just had the screen replaced and it didnt fix it.

Samsung said that this is a 'byproduct' of the lens effect or something, not sure I understood, but is anyone else having or seeing this? The tech said it might be due to the light engine or optical tube, but wanted to see if anyone else sees this. I attached the picture of when the TV is off, you can clearly see the flash of the camera, but above the SAMSUNG logo, you can see the 'yellow' spot.
