I have no idea how to search for this, so I apologize if this is answered.
My inlaws have problems listening to their DVD player through their TV because I believe the dynamic range is too great...e.g., they turn the volume way up to hear the speaking parts...typically quieter, but then the action or louder portions are crazy loud to them.
Is there a player or addon device that could compress this dynamic range to a more listenable level for them? I recall hearing of this (no pun intended) in the past...but I do not recall if it was a receiver function or...?
