I presume most of you have called Panasonic Concierge? What did they have to say about it? Has anyone managed to get the problem fixed and diagnosed through proper channels yet? seems like there has been enough time for someone to have gone through this process and say something about it rather than speculation.
Unclear on this Hole, to which you refer. I recommend you read through the official owner's thread.
As I posted there: no official Panasonic "diagnosis" yet, at least by phone - they said this problem was previously "unreported" and, therefore, they'd assumed no official stance with regard to it. And again, the Concierge came by a few weeks ago, and his stand was that the signals with which the shift occurred were too diluted. The TV was made for 1080p, he said, and any signal less than pristine (say XBox or Blu-Ray) were going to leave the tv prone to interpretive flux.
Which is to say, they passed the buck. Which isn't so surprising.
But once again, to be fair, I didn't detect the shift while on the XBox, nor could I see it while he was playing from his porta-Blu via HDMI. Others have reported seeing the problem on Blu-Ray, however.
To be sure -- the purpose of the thread is to gather evidence and share it, to minimize speculation. But where Panasonic fails to support our hardware, a little speculation's all we got - and better than bending over. With enough fuss, maybe they'll do something about it. It's too late to return my set, but at least we've established the problem's not absolute for the model, and we can inform new customers they have the alternative and a chance at a clean tv. This thread's a pretty good step, imho.

I notice that the people with May builds are having the issue.
<-- March, 2008.

Playing with the settings does move the Magic Shift Zone - up or down, couldn't say. Perhaps turning the settings up will reduce the overall likelihood of occurrence; I couldn't say, but anecdotal evidence seems to support this. It's not a cure, sadly, but perhaps means to minimize the symptom. I tried it myself, and while it fixed one scene, I saw the shift at the next scene, where I hadn't, before.
