Blu-ray Discs: Reviewer's Recommendations - Page 3

Not necessarily the best for audio or PQ but "overall", I feel all of the Pirates flicks and Pearl Harbor need to be mentioned if not already listed that I may have missed.

Hope this is good.

I hope it is not like the Wal Street Blu-Ray.

There is some hype on Amazon that Warner Home Video has done a great job with this. I will soon see for myself.

Ralph,

You gotta review The Eye, if you can. Watched it last night and DTS 7.1 HD is so clean, crisp, clear with some very intense bass in every channel that overall its one of the very best sonic presentations I've heard. Video is just ok for blu-ray, although Jess Alba is more than ok.

Any update on reviewing Elton John's 60th Bday bash?

Thank you for creating this thread. I was looking for a place to start and I got it all in one short list. Including the links to the PQ and Audio tier threads was a good move as well.

Thanks again.

AVP Requiem
About the first 5 minutes is some of the best sound
quality I have heard out of a blu ray. Listening
in DTS-MA 7.1 of course.

I Robot, You may find this hard to believe but I have a Yamaha bar and woofer with optical audio hookup and even the sound is awesome. Independence Day view was good but not mind blowing as my upscale did a very good job already, It's nice to have it in my collection though. It amazes me the difference of views, that last scene with all the robots looking toward the one robot and bridge was spectacular.

My wife said you shouldn't talk to me like that. Only SHE is allowed to be nasty to me.

Actually she's still getting over the big hole in the middle of the home theatre floor.
I've just finished building an IB (infinite baffle) sub. The only place I could mount the manifold was under the floor, with the top of the manifold opening throught the floor into the room. Amazingly clean low and infra low sound with no muddy boom.

Her opinion is "if it ain't broke (translated - if it still makes a sound or a picture), why fiddle or spend money on it ".

My understanding is our wifes are normal.

Obviously sybidoc is a lucky bachelor.
Should we tell him what's in store for him, or let him find out the hard way?

I'm not going to say a word about our wives. I just think there are some things in life a man got learn, what a man got learn. Let's just give him future condolences.

Cheers,

Thanks! Cool, sounds good. Season 3 is not as good as the first 2 seasons, but still worth a watch.

Just a short note that I'm really not interested in the films that were reviewed and posted for 8/11 but your efforts are greatly appreciated!

Mr Potts, just was wondering how you get the actual bit rate info on the audio and video of your reviews? is is a piece of equipment you have? thanks
post #84 of 524
Excellent work on the reviews. I was wondering if there were any plans to maintain a thread that would list the reviewed material in descending order by review value? Or have I just not looked carefully enough?

Is "Crouching tiger, hidden dragon" anywhere? The scene in the trees would be ...green!

No news on a release of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Before he left for blu-ray.com, Paidgeek said the master they had needed extensive work and that it wouldn't be out for a while.

Ralph,

Thanks for the reviews. Keep them coming.
When you get a chance I hope you could
review Pan's Labryinth. IMHO it is one of
the best if not thee best in Audio and Video
quality. The movie itself is one of the best
I have seen as well.
thanks!!

Very suprised about League being on there. However, great choice including Usual Suspects. My list includes:

Fight Club
Glenn Gary, Glenn Ross
Heat
Pulp Fiction
LA Confidential
Sin City
many more

Stepyourgameup, the recommendations are only for movies that are currently available on blu-ray.
