Disabling HDMI audio on my HD-A20?

I've looked through all the menu options and I'm not finding a way to accomplish this. Sure there must be a way?

Thanks.

may I ask what the harm is in keeping it active?

Harm? This isn't the most uncommon type of request when it comes to a movie player, you know?

I'm getting sick of lowering the volume on my TV every time I feel like watching an HD DVD. All of my other devices allow HDMI audio to be disabled. I only listen to the audio coming from the TV when watching cable.

As far as I know you cant turn it off. you will have to turn down or mute your TV when using HD DVD.

Boo.

I'd settle for muting the TV if it weren't for the fact that it insists on displaying a mute icon onscreen.

If your "TV" has a disable audio option for it's speakers, get a Harmony remote and program it to disable the TV speakers when switching to HD DVD. You can then switch back and forth with the touch of one button. I like how when I press "Watch an HD DVD," it switches inputs, powers on my XA2, and my correct speaker settings after hitting the one button. The programming capabilites of a Harmony remote is endless. I'm sure you could even have it lower the volume on the TV when switching if your TV speakers cannot be disabled.
