Doing well mate. Thanks for asking.

Yeah we need some more photos. Hopefully soon we will start to see many more AVP/POA owners post their setups.

C'mon all of you who haven't yet posted, let's see some pictures!

Nice thread here!

I just installed the Denon separates into my rack so its quite messy but I figured I'd post it here and when I put all the finishing touches in my system, I will write up a formal article on Audioholics.

My Middle Atlantic Rack consists of:
Denon AVP-A1HDCI
POA-A1HDCI
Emotiva RPA-2
RBH SAM 400 subwoofer amp
Denon DVD-5910CI
2 x APC S-20 Power Conditioners
2 x APC SBATTs
Audyssey Mult EQ Pro Stand Alone Processor

I also have a second rack from Crysal AV that consists of:
Yamaha MCX-2000 MusicCast
Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD Player
Motorolla HD DVR
Denon AVR-5805 (not installed yet)

Speakers:
RBH T-30LSE Towers
RBH T-1SER Center
RBH 66-SE/R Dipole/Bipole
RBH SI-740SE/R back channels
2 x Velodyne DD-15s

I configured the POA so that the subs in my T-30s use 4 channels in bridged mode and the center channel is also bridged. I use the Emotiva RPA-2 to power the back channels.

I don't run Audyssey built into the AVP mostly b/c of the volume scaling issue I am facing in my install. Instead, I run Aud Pro standalone box for my 4 subwoofers only. I am running a special calibration software that allows me full ability to edit the curves and customize to my preference. This is difficult and time consuming and I don't recommend it, but I also have achieved +-5db from 12Hz to 200Hz bass response across all of my listening seats

More to come on Audioholics

Hi Gene,

Welcome to our gallery! I must say that is one serious AV rack! I love the way it slides out to allow access to the rear. A lot of nice gear in there as well, the AVP/POA being among them. I'll bet the sound quality through that setup is pretty amazing. Thank you for sharing your reference system with us. Happy to have you with us here! And looking forward to reading your article on Audioholics.

Cool maybe you can help me lift my 5805 up the flight of steps to reinstall into my rack. The POA threw my back out badly last week and I was standing bent to the right for 3 days until the deep tissue massages and chiro treatments kicked in.

PS. I am using the 5805 to power my bedroom system which features dual inwall RBH SI-10 subs and MC series in walls. The main zone of the 5805 is setup to test 5.1 speaker systems independent of my main system or to biamp for 2CH listening tests of new speakers. The 5805 in biamp mode sounds killer and this receiver is simply too good for me to sell on Ebay for a huge loss.

Don't blame you at all. THe 5805 is one of those units which came about despite the fact that it should never have existed, and I don't think there will ever be another single unit like it. If I had one I would never part with it.

Hi Gene,
Welcome mate, just have to say very impressive setup.I also don't use Audyssey I got my room calibrated by a HAA calibrator using sencore products and would have to say the AVP/POA shines.

BTW awhile back I pm'd DenonJeff and invited him to our forums. As he is a AVP/POA owner also happy to have his photos on this thread also. You and him are welcomed anytime on either AVP thread.

Looking forward in hearing/reading that interview. Thankyou

When one is really anal retentive like I am, you can never fully rely on an auto EQ or setup system. In my room I was never satisfied with the pre EQ'ed response I got from Audyssey. I am eager to try the editor feature once it becomes available this fall. In the meantime I've got my bass pretty much squared away though nothing is ever perfect

Choosing HAA to cal your rig was a great choice. They know what they are doing for sure!

When I used to have my Denon AVC-A1XVA(5805) I used to think Audyssey was the way for me in my room but once I got introduced and used the services of a HAA caibrator I would have to say the difference was night and day.The bass was tight, we eliminated dead spots and the movies were like they came to life.i tried Audyssey again after the room reatments and the HAA calibrator did the final tweaking and it just did not work for me at all.

I will be intersted to read your results of the editor feature once you try it.

cheers

Also good morning (now afternoon in QLD) to you Seth.

Still waiting for the "DAMN" bank to clear the funds into the account. The advantage I/We have is the wife being a manager for a branch can add that bit more pressure than a normal customer. Once the funds are cleared (anyday barring and more stupid Bank stuff up's), i should have my AVP/POA within days and then the Photo's will amongst these wonderful set-ups.

On a side note Seth, i showed my Wife your setup pictures and she loved them and asked how much your speakers are because she just loved the design of them. So now Focal's or ML's (she didnt like the look of the B&W's go figure) are on next after the AVP/POA. The only problem is that she also went on to say that my/our setup has to look as tidy as yours (havnt gone to great effort to hide cables, but will now).

Real good Frank. Back to work tomorrow after my 4 days off (I work 4 days on then 4 off). Which is a bit of a bummer mainly that if the funding comes through this week, it will be very hard to get things done due to work being 0600-1800, then 1800-0600. Though I could get Kylie to talk to CAV which would be an experience for her.

Hope all your power issues are sorted and thers no scares for you anymore.

Awww that was nice of her. Tell her I said thanks for that wonderful compliment. Also tell her that she has excellent taste in speakers. She sounds like a sweetheart.

Wire management is always a tricky thing, and organizing all the cables and wiring I have was no small feat. With a few tips and suggestions I got from a good friend of mine, I got it looking pretty decent.

I actually got a pretty good deal on my Martin Logan reQuest mains. They were very slightly used when I got them (only 30 hours of use), so they were like brand new. When I got 'em I paid $3,000 USD. But now one can probably find them for anywhere between $1,700-$2,200 USD depending on condition. But I'm not sure how much they would cost you over there in Australia. Is there anything like Audiogon or eBay there in Australia? If there is you might find a good deal on some reQuests or even one of their newer models.

While I don't mind the look of the B&W line (gotta love the 800 series), there are also many I know that don't fancy the look. But there is no denying that they sure sound sweet!

Well that is too cool that new speakers are next on the to get list for you two. And very soon you will be enjoying your new AVP/POA. Looking forward to those pix.

Sounds like that UPS does an excellent job! Too cool. I have a UPS (an APC Smart UPS), but I only got it for my TV. Since it's a rear projection HDTV I didn't want to risk frying the lamp in the event of a power failure. Brownouts here are very rare, and only happened once in the past four years. But power outages are a bit more frequent.

But one can never be too safe.

Never had the problem like were having this year, its annoying and mate did I panick when the AVP/POA started flashing red lights.(Manual states red fashing light unit damaged) one night after the brown out.Luck it worked and rang Denon and they told me the AVP should be connected to a UPS.Got one by the afternoon. Had to have one.Now I might have to look at a rack system because there is no more room.

When does it end!

I hear ya bud. I know I would have freaked if my AVP had started to flash red. I am so happy to hear that your AVP is ok. Having a damaged AVP due to a brownout would have totally sucked! The UPS is a very good investment for your AVP and for your piece of mind.

As for when all the gear spending ends, well I'm sorry mate it never does. Now that I heard that Denon is definitely coming out with the super Blu-ray machine, I know I just have to have one. That thing is gonna be awesome, balanced outs and all.
