Ok thanks for the heads up. Since you seem as though you know what you are talking about, do you know how long that price will last? Thanks again.

I didn't... but I could.

What's unfortunate about that? We bought a 141 on purpose to not have speakers, amps, etc. we don't need.

progprog was simply referring to anyone who wished to get a 'monitor' (141) and hoped for speaker outputs. There is otherwise nothing 'unfortunate' about the 141.

The reasons for monitors are plentyful as was stated farther up in the thread. If one has a dedicated theater and neither needs nor wants the additional amps, circuitry, etc., it's a brilliant way to go.

Cheers.

Since I have all separates, I just use my pre/pro, center channel speaker and center channel amp for things like that. Great also for watching classic movies with mono soundtracks where I don't have to waste electricity powering speaker channels not in use. Like some other people who post here, I haven't used TV speakers for the last couple of decades. I just wish they had made a 146 (halfway between the 141 and 151): with a tuner but without speakers.

One never knows with "special" deals, but I wouldn't wait until next weekend.

It's always a gamble..
Go for it when you think the time is right for you.. Go with someone like 6th ave and have a 30 price guarantee, there are others that offer it to I'm sure..

I was thinking of putting the OEM speakers below the TV as an interim solutions. And yes, I might reconsider the 6020 -which fits fine. I already have a 4080 and love it and still mess with all the settings, that is why I am looking harder at the 151. But, seems the non-elite forumers love their "nons" as well. I have a separate 6.1 speaker set up, but don't use it for casual TV.

So far, I have found the newly announced Polk Surroundbar SDA iHT. Will take the single stereo output from the TV, has a separate AC power cord and wireless sub (6.5"). Will fit right below the TV. MSRP for this is $499. Beats paying $1K for a full surround sound bar/speaker.

I am the source. Well, their inventory system is actually the source, but I have access to it.

Being that AVS is a home theater forum id think most of you don't use the Kuro speakers.... or am I wrong?

Ive though about sticking them on just for looks.

I use the speakers on my 151 for some things and the HT system for others; just depends on the material and situation. I like having the option.

I was told the same thing by their sales person. I am going in this weekend to order a unit, which they said should be delivered around the 21st of Feb. I can wait as this unit is for the bedroom.

The Pioneer special is valid until the QTY's start going low or end of FEB This is what was told by Pioneer to all dealers.

Now if there was only a way to keep track of the quantity nation wide

One would think the with the economy as bad as it is, that they would continue the sale well into may to cash in on folks tax refunds.

You can never tell what will be out there in the way of killer deals in May..
I have found myself hanging on for sales and then realize no matter how long I wait there will be a better deal or a newer model.. I now look for the lowest I can find it at the time I want to purchase and just buy it.. Then try to never look back...

So is the reason for the deep discounts really just a result of not being able to move any of the TV's at $5,000 and the fact they need to clear inventory for the next generation?

Stations always move their numbers around OTA. Often, you have to rescan if the new number is not in your current scan. Sometimes you can also pick up pay per view. But, it only lasts until the show ends or when the person that ordered it stopped the show.

I've reviewed financials for a mfg in the past and this looked like a common move to me. Sometimes price drops generates volume, market share and brand name, but somehow it didn't seem like this is the time for it.

Now I'm starting to wonder if this is a hint regarding the timeline on 10g production...

So my 111FD was delivered this morning... just had a chance to fire it up, put it into pure mode, and try out a few discs... seems to work perfectly so far! Kudos to Roman (and the freight service he used), he shipped it out Monday, and less than a week later its in my house, halfway across the country.

And it's every bit as good as I hoped. The image is fantastic, the black levels are even better than my aging CRT can pull off at this point, and I hear no buzzing to speak of. I see these odd flashes of color if i quickly scan my eye across the screen sometimes, is that the phosphor lag people talk about? Either way, it hasn't bothered me so far. Another concern I had was the brightness, but it has no problem matching my Samsung 650 LCD's brightness at my preferred dark room settings.

If I have one complaint, it's that the Pioneer is more revealing of the flaws of some of my weaker blu-rays than my LCD was... but the good ones look astounding All in all, I'm a happy fella.

Thanks Roman!

Yes, those are the dreaded PT's.

OOB, the Elites have a bit of +G, which gives the picture a bit of a "dull" look.

I would apply Ds' settings, which will improve the overall picture a bit.

Today I got my 111fd Just one word to describe it, wow!

BTW, on power up it did show the menu where it asks if it is for Home use or demo in a shop.

I am very happy with the audio quality with the side speakers also.

Now excuse me while I watch a few HD shows on my Kuro

The current BB special lasts until Feb. 7th. The Price they are offering is actually the employee price. Since my 5020 broke I've been in the market for a 111, and the prices right now are unbeatable. Though I will say this: I was interested in purchasing a 111 in November, and at that time I was told that it was very unlikely the 111 would fall under $3,800. Then I almost jumped on it when they were offered at 30% off MSRP. Now there nearly 50% MSRP. I am by no means saying to wait, because at the moment with AVS dealers offering amazing deals you can get an elite at an amazing price. Though with today's economy, prices are bound to fall especially with all the Big Box stores in trouble.

On the 111, what exactly does " Sound control" do ?

Thanks, Scotty

I think they just wanted to move many units and its working. But not sure what the real deal behind it is
