Thanks

I've never had a problem with any serial or IR codes they post, so I see no reason to think the URC and Pronto codes wouldn't work as well.

PS regarding your stand question earlier. As already noted, it isn't assembled or attached upon delivery. I would highly recommend keeping the panel upright and lifting it onto the assembled stand rather then using the manual's method of laying the panel on its face.

but isn't the set going to vulnerable to burn-in without the orbiter. I have used my set regularly from the first day and I watched everything, logos, side bars, etc. and I don't have the slightest IR since my orbiter was on. Now I am scared to turn it off. It feels like breaking something that works.

I leave mine turned off and I've never seen any IR or burn-in.

what is your reason of turning it off? same concern with other posters or something else?

Why, can you see it doing what it does or something ?
I most certainly can notice the orbiter working with video games. HUDs and whatnot end up getting cut off periodically if they are too close to the edges to begin with.

Question for you owners, I will be getting a 151 in about a week and a half and my question is. With the side speakers on, can you still get to the inputs on the side?
Should be able to: speaker inputs are behnd and at the bottom of the speakers.

I can actually see it a bit with HD material. (TV already looks like crap, by comparison, so who would know?? ) When I had my set calibrated, I asked the guy about it, and he confirmed what I thought I saw. There is a slight diminishing of sharpness with the Orbiter. Now, keep in mind, I think it's so subtle that it probably doesn't matter much either way, but since we watch such a variety of material, I don't feel I have to exercise that degree of caution about IR.

I think he means the actual inputs, not the speaker wire jacks. Yes, you can get to them, but they aren't exactly "convenient."

Okay, probably a stupid question, but the question of on or off. Do owners leave this panel on all the time? Or, do you turn it on and off like you would a regular TV? If you leave it on all the time, why?

yes of course. that is the only real way it should be shipped. upright only. if any other way, the glass could break. its actually on the box outside..

as it cost more to ship this way, i assume not all ship like this. but i just had my one shipped to me this week from the UK and it was on a pallet and arrived perfectly.

Yes. When my TV is off, I leave it in standby mode (red led light on the front of the panel). The reason I do it?? It is the right thing to do.

It could also depend on the final shipper and how it ends up in the warehouse.

It's fairly energy efficient from what I understand. Draws way less power in standby mode compared to the 8g's.

Why would you or anyone else want to leave it powered on if you're not watching it?

I'm sorry I think you're misunderstanding me. I thought from what I've read that most leave their panels on. I'm trying to find out if I've misread that. I gather from your question which clarified what tiger said that you turn it off by placing it in standby mode (i.e. master power remains on) but that you do not turn off the master power. Am I correct?

That is correct, only turn off the master switch if there is an extended length of time that it won't be used, such as gone on vacation..

Yes, that is correct. I never turn off the master power switch, which is at the back of the panel and very difficult to reach, but do place it in standby mode. I'm still confused by the concept of NOT putting it in standby. What is the purpose of leaving it on? It's going to consume more energy than being in standby and I don't see any upside in leaving it on.

Perhaps putting the panel off but not the set is good for the times you are out of the room for less than an ... hour?? or so. Booting a computer on or off can be stressful. The set is a computer more or less. So one can have the panel off but the rest on if you want.

Does this make sense??

I don't think anybody was talking about that. The original question was a little confusing, but he was just asking whether people turn the master switch off.

Read the original question again. You're making an assumption about what it meant.

Yes, I mean the inputs on the side of the display. Thanks for the info.

I didn't think it was confusing. I was just asking if people left the panel on (I meant illuminated) all the time as something I read led me to believe that. Sorry for the confusion.

There are two choices for panel off. In the tools section - panel off - or standby. Panel off leaves the set "on" but not the panel. Standby turns off most of the set.

Hey, Sonny--what's the advantage of powering off the master switch on vacation--saves electricity? (I have to admit, I never turned off the master switch on my direct view Mits because it's real hard to reach the master power switch).
