good man... as someone else said, good to see that at least a few people have caught on that the idea behind getting a tv is to watch it...

You better bet your cookies I will. It's funny when a TV brings you joy and years ago it was once called an ignorant box. Now you damn near have to take a college course to operate the thing. AVSForm has been my intermediate course and I'm working toward my advance HD Diplomia.

No matter, I'm Lovin' it! not a dead or stuck pixel nowhere to be found...sorry McD's I had to steal that one.

I just got my second 111 (replaced the last one because it came with a dead pixel... I didn't order that!). I spent a good half hour debating whether I could go up to a 151 instead, but couldn't justify $2k USD more than the 111 for it I was absolutely amazed at the actual size difference! Going from my old 40" set to the 50" didn't seem nearly as dramatic a size difference as seeing the 111 next to a 151 in the showroom.

Anyway, new set is perfect... no buzz, no visible DSE, no dead pixels. Going through some break-in stuff now. I feel giddy, even though it's just a replacement set and not a brand new Kuro experience. Is that silly? Probably. Am I going to enjoy it anyway? Absolutely!

...and I'm doing my best not to be jealous of all the 151 owners

lol.... yea, the 60 has MUCH more real estate than the 50... but as you noted, you DO pay for that real estate...

i never thought i'd say a 50 inch television looks "small"... it's amazing how much technology has advanced...

don't be jealous... you got a great set... enjoy it!

I have a question regarding orbiter usage. I notice juddering (movement) with it on and the picture is obviously not as sharp, this is really starting to bother me,but being that I only have my 111 for 2 weeks I'm afraid of shutting it off completely due to chances of burn in

you sure??? you've tried this with someone else switching the orbiter on and off without you knowing what setting it's on?

i have always run the orbiter, and my picture is razor sharp...

"judder" has nothing to do with the orbiter...

Does anybody have the length/width measurements for the PRO-151D & -141D stands? I'm about to make myself decide to get one or the other and I need to know if it'll fit my entertainment center.

I'll tell you the other thing that makes you feel great with these sets--it's when your spouse gives you a spontaneous compliment on the television.

Happened tonight while I was watching Kung Fu Panda with my child--my wife just dropped what she was doing and came over to join the fun--best endorsement of the system I could imagine and it fulfilled the big reason I put the system together in the first place--for us to enjoy as a family.

I guess I meant to say the softer picture with the orbiter on bothers me, would the picture be sharper with it off?

again, have you tried this with someone else switching the settings so you don't know what you are looking at? multiple times?

not trying to be difficult. but unless you do the above, the mind can play tricks with you. especially if you hang out on avs (or other av forums) a lot, if you get my drift.

you may want to try adjusting some of your other settings if you find the picture too soft...

I have new Pioneer Elite 151 and tried entering my serial number into this website:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/po...tte.cachetoken

However, it doesn't seem to take my serial number Does anyone else have this issue? I have contacted customer service but they have not replied to my questions.

Does anyone know what these "unique factory settings" are?
Thanks ahead of time!

I believe the website you provided is for Signature Elite monitors (PRO-101FD, PRO-141FD). Although you have a Elite, Pioneer has a distinction between the Elite series and the Signature series. See here for more details on the differences between your Elite 151 and the Signature 141: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1126267

This phenomenon has been widely reported and discussed. It is not IR in the traditional sense but just residual charge in the phosphors that take a few seconds to a minute to dissipate when the set is turned off. It won't be there when you turn the set back on which would be the case if it were true IR. Otherwise, I would dispute that every set has IR and every set has buzz. I don't dispute your superior vision but I have never seen any hint of IR even on a virtually all white screen and I have watched History Channel HD for several hours straight and don't see any hint of IR after that. I would ask though what settings you use. As for buzz, a number of people have watched my set. They were of all ages and both male and female and none have reported hearing a buzz. I don't dispute that some sets may have some IR and certainly some do buzz but I don't believe that this is true of all sets as you claim.

You guys on this side of the pond seem to be obsessed with running in!!

Just get it out the box, calibrate it and enjoy for christsakes!!

I got my 9G out and played singstar for 5 hours that night, then went to bed drunk and left it on, so it was sat on the menu for a good 12 hours solid, slight IR that was gone after watching another channel for 2 minutes.

That was with the contrast on 38 in pure mode, so not exactly taking it easy with a brand new set.

I agree the set changes over the first few hundred hours, gets sharper and sharper and looses that nasty digitalness they have out the box, I tweak the setting at around 250 hours and then again at about 6-700 hours, but I don't worry about IR.

Done the same with all my sets, only one I ever had a problem with was an NEC XM3 and the Pioneer 436, but they were crap and gave me a good excuse to dump them anyway.

While watching HD cable TV I get an occasional artefact that shows up on the screen and I was looking for ways to determine if its from a setting in my 151 or native to the video signal. I have a Motorola 3416 HD-DVR sending its hd video signal to a Denon 3808 via hdmi which then sends the signal to the 151 via hdmi.

I have the 3808 set to pass-through so there's no processing on the part of the avr.

The artefact appears as a horizontal line maybe 5-10 pixels thick and maybe 6-10" long on the screen. Its only visible for a fleeting second and then its gone. Its never in the same location on the screen and only happens infrequently (5-10 times) during the course of an evening of watching HD TV.

The 151 is set to dot-by-dot. I've tried various AV modes and have still seen the artefact. I also tried changing Pure cinema to OFF, Standard, Smooth and Advanced. I've seen the artefact in all Pure Cinema modes.

I only see the artefact when the incoming signal is an HD channel coming into the 151 at 1080i. Is there another setting in the 151 I should consider changing or is this an anomaly I need to get used to from the incoming signal? Are there any other settings worth changing in the hd-dvr that might address the issue?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

gizlaroc,

That's quite funny yet to the point! There are several OCD individuals on this side of the pond regarding this BI and IR. I'm with you, plugging it in and watching me some TV. I'm just going to run a few RGB slides from a thumbdrive to check pixel uniformity, and do a firmware update if needed... I'll adjust as this thing breaks in naturally and get me a pro-calibration 6 months in! Hopefully I'll get a working set by the time my 3rd one arrives. Cheers!
