Isn't it required by law for them to honor their warranty?

Ok, so ive looked around and id like one that can do IR and RF signals because
I often sit outside on my patio and listen to music and having volume control would be nice.

I see the Logitech Harmony 890 and 1000 can do RF, but the one that has my attention is THIS from Universal Remote.......does anybody here have one of these?

No experience with that one.

The Harmony 890 is a heck of a remote, and works well with the RF extender (it comes with it, where the 1000 you have to purchase it separately).

Do not know what your budget is like, but I would consider the 880 or greater, with the RF250.

Logitech 880 ? RF is one feature I am going to have to require...so the Harmony 890 and 1000 are the only Logitech remotes that do RF.

RF250 ?

As far as budget goes, I can afford them all but I am a cheapskate so a big bang for the buck is what I require.

What got me started thinking about a universal remote was this one.

But ive heard enough bad stuff about that one to eliminate it.

So as of right now its the Logitech 890 or the RF20/MRF-100B Bundle.

Can anyone shed any light on this...it took a lot for me to pull the trigger and now no warranty

unless they go out of business (could happen....) Pioneer will cover the warranty.

Thanks...
Is this just a scam or what? They said "I just want to be honest with you, Pioneer will not honor the warranty because we are not an authorized elite dealer and you bought the tv for less than retail". I guess it's a way to sell extended warranties? Does anyone here work for an authorized dealer? I want to pull the trigger but I'm not willing to fore go the warranty if Pioneer won't honor it. They sell an in-house warranty for $399-$499. You should hear some of the stuff being said out there...

just call and deal with an authorized Pioneer dealer like Roman O at buybestplasma.com or John Marty at axxisdurango.com and you will get great service and prices and not worry about your warranty. they have sold thousands of Pioneer plasma panels to avsers all over the country.

also you can get a mack 3 yr add on warranty which would give you 5 years total coverage for $300 for a Pro151 under $5000. so yes they are trying to scare/scam sell you

Personally, I would be concerned buying from dealer that would say such a thing. Are they an authorized dealer (did you verify with Pioneer?)?

edit - just saw you comment about them not being authorized. I would stay away from them.

I'm not trying to get banned or anything but I tried buying from a couple of those stores...Elite Pioneer warranty no good? I'll try Cleveland Plasma...Chris is seeing right now if he can still get the 151fd...my fingers are crossed

I am concerned that's why I posted the question...I chose a store close to home in case there were issues...I don't know what good that might prove, but I could at least take a ride to the store and if need be contact the State Attorneys Office as a NJ state resident who was ripped off by a store in the state of NJ...yeah I know, a lot of good that would do.

Robert at Value Electronics is relatively close, no? Might want to give him a try.

Other than eBay sellers and a few other retailers listed on Pioneer "S" list as long as the Elite is not stolen or gray goods Pioneer will honor the 2 yr. warranty. That said, it is best to buy high end goods from authorized dealers.

Going back to the Harmony One, does it work well with STB's?

Any programmable remote will work with any component if you use the appropriate codeset. With Harmony remotes, your only option for obtaining codes online is the Harmony database, which is extensive, but you can also learn any commands not available via the database.

Thank you all for your replies...I feel better about making the purchase now. I will follow everyones advice...

I just want to make sure that the record/playback buttons and page up/down works for my SA 8300. I would love to use the Pioneer remote but having to switch inputs is a bother. Can the Harmony learn any IR command?

I have a Harmony One and the SA 8300 from Surewest and things work fine. Some buttons work a little differently from the remote that comes with the SA8300 (for example, instead of hitting "exit" in the Info mode, you simply hit the Info mode again). I've only recorded one thing so far, and it went without a hitch--someone else who uses the record function a lot on their 8300 might offer a better perspective on this specific function.

There are a few quirks with the way it interacts with my 151 and Oppo, but nothing a button reassignment wouldn't solve--I haven't bothered because if I want to make deep adjustments, I just use the original remotes.

I really like it.

SO....I just got my PRO-111FD today! I'm so psyched.

I'm trying to get it to "learn" the codes of my HD-A2 HD-DVD Player from Toshiba. It's an intern until I get a nice Blu-Ray player!

OK. So here are the instructions from the manual:

1. Press Select.
2. Press Edit/Learn and 2 at the same time.
3. Use the number buttons to learn a manufacturing code.
4. Press Edit/Learn again to exit the Learn mode.

What the crap does step three want me to do? This is supposed to auto-learn; I thought this meant I didn't have to put the code. Like, I am supposed to use those buttons on the Elite's remote or on my HD-DVD's remote?

Any help for a confused owner?

Thanks!

~Ibrahim~

Thanks All...
Took progprog's advice and went with Robert from Value Electronics. I'll be the proud owner of a 151 come Sat or Sun. I was really torn though between the 141 and the 500m...60" signature glass...darkest blacks ever...separates...SD card...Blue only mode...the choices are endless! I'd like to see a shoot out between all three...nudge, nudge.

Congrats, ArborBarber! (a gardener, by any chance? )

You'll love your new TV. The choices are many and a little confusing with these panels, but as long as you get the size and features you want, you really can't go wrong.....they all yield the best picture available. We'll be around if you have any questions.

Excited to announce that I pulled the trigger on a 151 tonight!! Got a great deal from my local BB/Magnolia on the last new one they had in the store. Taking delivery on 7/3.

I'm coming from a 3.5yr old 50" Elite 1130 so this will be a nice upgrade. Unfortunately my gf managed to slightly burn-in the SD sidebars on my 1130 from watching too much "bad" tv (i.e. SD content and just plain bad TV like America's Top Model and other bs like that!!!) while she borrowed it over the last year while I was in corporate housing. Yes, I know that was totally off-topic but this it this only place I can whine about something like this and be truly appreciated!! ha ha

Ok, I'm off to read all 627 pages of this thread. Should be close to done by the time I take delivery next week...

Congrats, and Great choice you will not be disappointed. Robert & Wendy are GREAT folks...I bought 2 Kuro's from them and they run a 1st Class Company

I use to own a tree service, hence the name. I do love land scaping and water gardens as I've created a lot of beautiful spaces. Progprog I have to admit I'm still a little torn, but I greatly appreciate your kind words! It seems to me, that any of the kuro are so tight in tolerances that the human eye may not be able to descern. The darkest blacks ever...hmmm. LOL!

Robert is a very nice man. He loves what he is doing and it pours from him. It's ashame that Pioneer gave up. Pioneer only needed 2 more people like Robert and the ship would still be a float. Passion for what one does is a hard thing to come by, Pioneer had it, but for what ever reason the flame died out. What ashame.

#1 Congrats to the new Elite Kuro owners, welcome to the club!!

Well most of it is because the United States has been in a recession since 12/07. Every electronics manufacturer is feeling this, every single one of them.

Elite Kuro owners, take very , very good care of your PDPs because you have the best display that has ever been produced and it will not be trumped anytime soon. I will guess in 3 years at the very soonest.

Hey, didn't you ever see The Sopranos episode "Pine Barrens?" Lots of trees! Poor Pauly and Christopher thought they were going to starve to death there. (The Pine Barrens alone cover over a million acres in NJ...so that's probably a few more trees than your backyard! )

lol ok, but I know I got you beat, I have 5 ~50' Cedars in my back yard and 1 ~50' Redwood in my front yard. This was years ago but there was a time when Bellingham WA was the largest exporter of lumber on the planet.

Sorry man , I love trees.
