There is no need to change the color setting on your 151FD as it can properly recognize a RGB 16-235 signal. This does not happen on the monitors.

They are blacker. Your veiwing habits would dictate whether or not you could see the difference.

Why is my 101 on "auto"? Looks fine. the other setting looks pink!

Is there any market for the speakers for the 111fd?

I see them selling online at some sites...

I was considering selling my 111fd for a bigger screen but all the reviews I read of other sets show far too many compromises or just problems.

I was thinking if I could sell the speakers and get 150 or so then I could justify keeping the set vs changing to something bigger.

Has anyone switched to or from some of the cheaper large displays or Mitsubishi DLP's?
A 65" tv would be nice but I am worried about the PQ trade offs.

I must be missing something. What do the speakers (and whether or not you can sell them) have to do with your desire for a larger display?

nothing directly....

I want a bigger display BUT I am worried about PQ....

If I can sell the speakers then it give me one more incentive to stay with the smaller tv ie keep the pq, make a couple bucks but lose the extra size

Does this mean the 101 & 500m allow more black detail to come through at a lower level without crushing than the 111/151?

The Panny 65VT25 is a sweet set when properly calibrated.

Looking to mount a Pro-111 on my wall. I already have this one from Monoprice.com on my wall from mounting my sony. Is this one Ok for the Kuro or do I need something else?

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

Thanks.

Because nothing in your setup required a forced RGB 16-235.

The 111FD and 151FD do not crush black. Black crush comes from the improper setup of the black level (brightness control).

Unless you are going to purchase another 2nd gen Kuro, you will have to make compromises. Pick your poison.

I figure that but I think chosing a TV might be more complicated than picking speakers so I am trying to figure out what direction to look in and its hard to find real info about DLP TV's besides "great size for cheap" and little about the pic. In stores they are always set up horribly.
So let me get this right. Only the monitors need to have the 16-235 selected? The T.V.s have working auto settings? Just to tickle me, you can switch the setting on the TV and get the same results, can't you?

Thanks to all in this thread, you have been extremely helpful.

Regarding DLPs... you're better off getting a Samsung/Panasonic plasma.

You must not have an HR-24. You probably have an older model DVR/ Maybe HR21 or HR22

Only the HR-24 does RGB 16-235. All other DirecTV boxes do component 4:4:4.

Yes. I was just wondering since the 101 has "better blacks" if more detail came through or is it just darker.

There's no doubt they measure deeper. Whether you can tell or not is the real question. From my understanding, you'll only see the difference when watching low mll content in a dark room. From personal experience, these sets kick serious amounts of ass with dark content.

Black detail and black level are two different items. The 101FD has deeper blacks compared to the 111FD and retains the same amount of detail.... just dimmer because of the deeper blacks.

Yeah, Dnice told me that he is using auto with the older Dvr's but for some reason when DirectTV came out with their very latest version (Hr24) they changed the color space.

Why not? No one's gotten any 9G 60" panel down as low as the 500M's .0004 mll. And this is what D-Nice said about the 151 just yesterday:

I've gotten my 141FD down to 0.0006fL per engineering info. I may offer this "tweak" for my clients who have 141FDs and 600Ms.... but.... this proceedure does not work for all 141FD/600Ms and it does not work for any 151FDs.

If/when I feel safe with this procedure, I will reach out to all past clients.
