I'm trying to decide if I should just keep the Panasonic and leave the deep color off, or spend the extra money and get an Oppo, although I don't really need the enhanced audio it offers.
"Sparkles" are almost always cased by HDMI transmission issues, usually a bad cable. Or, it could be an op-amp's output problem. Try another player. But, even with BJ cable, 35' is pretty close to the threshold of "YMMV".
The enhanced audio of the Oppo is an added benefit. The real value is with the quality of DVD upconvert, BD performance (not just PQ, load times, etc.) and amazing customer support. Without any hesitation, I recommend Oppo!
Oh, and Deep Color will most likely have no real world benefit, at this time. Other than seeing "36 bit" displayed on your panel
