Anyway, good luck to the new owner.

Did you try countering by saying you'd replace it with a $1,500 tv from costco?

I feel for you!! Just sold my house, all my literature explicitly said "all AV equipment NOT included, no questions"... So let me ask you- Does your buyer know what the tv is? If not, I would ask them if you could buy them a new tv in that same size- then replace your 151 with an $800 panny....

This tv really does give off an exceptional amount of heat after a few hours. I step outside of my bedroom (where the 111 is) and the temperature is at least ten degrees cooler throughout the rest of the house. If the 111 give off this much heat, I can only imagine how much heat the 151 gives. Has anyone found anything to eliminate, or at least alleviate, this issue? I had one guy around here recommended that I drill holes into my ceiling to dispense the heat via an exhaust fan. Anyone have any other potential solutions?
I have never found the heat from my 151 to be a problem as long as there is plenty of air circulation. I can't feel any heat from the set more than a foot away from the set. You do not want to use the set in a room with limited air circulation and the door(s) closed. I once had the set briefly in a fairly small room and closed the door while it was on. That did build up heat in the room.

That's pretty much exactly my situation. My bedroom is on the small side, at about 12'x12'. I do keep my door closed at times, if only to be considerate to others when I have my speakers and subwoofer firing.

If opening the door reduces the temperature variance, then your issue is that you're not getting enough circulation. That being the case, if you own the property, undercut the bedroom door an inch.

Subwoofer frequencies are such that undercutting the door won't help or hurt. It's going through the walls anyway.

my home theater receiver has an hdmi (audio return channel) ARC feature through hdmi and I want to know if the pro elite's have this capability, I have a new Yamaha RX-A3010 Aventage receiver that has an arc hdmi output, can My beloved pioneer take advantage of this? Since I had my set calibrated a few months after purchase, I swear the picture has improved with all of the fabulous characteristics of this set, beautiful color rendition, fabulous contrast and detail with the amazing black levels where the end of movie screen credits (in a black background) can be eerie in their inky blackness suggesting a never ending depth to the screen.

There is no ARC, if you need audio from your display to the AVR use the optical output.

I found a post in this thread that commented on the most often replaced part for the elite series being the power supply which although plentiful now might come in handy one day. Apparently it's a two piece supply with a part number of AXY1201 found for $119 shipped from the link \\http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsear...ult/?q=axy1201
which if the power supply is one of the likeliest parts to fail, I'm compulsive enough to want one and order one I did because I have backups for backups and it makes me feel more secure or at least prepared, because if it did go out it would shock people I know to say I had one, heh, heh, heh, and I thought I might as well mention this to the people at this point just in case they wanted to do as I did, buy one. I'm not anxious to replace my much loved elite set because I've never seen a finer picture, ever,

One year anniversary ISF calibration on my Pro-111FD by D-Nice:

It has been one year since D-Nice came over to my home and calibrated my 111. The end result to this day has been phenomenal. Since he calibrated my display I have been enjoying it every time I watch a movie, documentary, or the news. The picture quality has been so clear and accurate that when I watch something like ABC World News its like the studio is next door to me and I'm getting a direct live feed. Blu-ray movies are so accurately colour saturated with a crispness that adds a real life dimention that keeps me drawn into almost every movie I watch.

I'm so glad that he crossed the border into Canada and found his way to Toronto. I never thought that he would go North for our beloved Kuro displays but he did and I'm forever grateful that I have my 111 calibrated to its highest potential by the famed D-Nice.

The experience of hiring D-Nice for my display calibration has been so positive that when I buy my next Panasonic plasma 65-inch display, maybe in a year or two, that I will without hesitation call on him again to perform his fine calibration skills on my TV.

I remember telling him before he left last year that he should visit Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York for some famous and delicious wings. I don't know if he went or not, however, I will always remember D-Nice for his professionalism, calibration skills, and his ability to explain the calibration process in a clear and easy to understand manner that will leave you with great respect for D-Nice and the outcomes he delivers. In other words great value for the money spent.

Thank you again D-Nice and though I do not post a lot I will say that I follow your postings on AVS closely and respect what you have to say about flat panel displays.

Take care D-Nice

Details!

What source were you watching? How big is the area are you talking about? What do you see if the whole screen is black?

Details!

By all inputs do you mean Cable, satellite, Blu-ray (with or without black bars, DVD (with or without black bars), and streaming? If you mean a TV related source, is it SD or HD? Are you using HDMI? Are your sources coming through an AVR or direct to the TV. Is you TV in Dot by Dot mode or some other mode (size)?

I may not have an answer for you, but I've got a lot of questions.

Sounds like a component is behaving outside of specification.

Are you saying that you changed your power strip and the problem went away?

If so that's terrific. Also, you might want to invest in a better grade power strip with strong surge protection.

My pioneer Elite is not coming on. I dont see even red standby light. I have tried to disconnect Electrical and connect again but no show. I do see a red light on inside housing that gradually disappears.
what is the best way to reach pioneer assistance?
Did you somehow accidently turn off the master power switch on the back/bottom of the unit?
This is a bit risky, but I'll post it.

More out of curiosity than anything, I replaced the stock power cord on my 111FD with a Wireworld Stratus 5.2, their entry-level cord. Well, it looks nicer and is a heavier gauge, too. What I didn't expect was an improvement in the TV's sound quality, especially in the upper frequencies being clearer and cleaner. There is more detail noticeable. I can't say I see any improvement in the picture.

The cord's been in place for a few days, and the change hasn't abated. A nice unexpected change for the better so far.

Your using the 111 speakers? That's not doing justice... An audio system to compliment that picture is worthy
post #27597 of 28731
Prepress doesn't give a, he's always been anti audio hifi.
Hum, he bought that cable, that counts. And appreciated the "cleaner sound", that's audio, lol.
But seriously to each his own for sure. And appreciate the feedback on the cable.
What I mean is, he doesn't care about audio to the point of using anything besides the TV speakers. There's a history here where this has been discussed ad nauseum. He values the PQ more than the audio.
True, I do have a full-blown system, albeit 2-channel. But for just watching TV, the 36W system on the 111 is sufficient for me, especially in a small and quiet room.

Another reason behind the WW Stratus cable was wondering if the better shielding and construction might somehow mitigate or remove the hum from the cable feed (it did, for a couple of days). I can hear it from my viewing seat, and though not disruptive it is undesirable. I put an Iso-Max filter back on the cable line. I lose a channel or two, which happens sometimes with these things, but the hum is gone. Actually, the hum sounded worse with the Stratus, as it was emphasized in the upper frequencies, more like a buzz than a hum, and had more "bite" as opposed to the more traditional-sounding hum with the stock cord. I tried a Viewsonic Isolator for a bit, but seemed to lose more channels than with the Iso-Max. With the Viewsonic, I might try reversing the connection, as someone on another forum suggested, at some point.

As for video, sometimes I think the picture looks a tad sharper, but that's hard to say for sure. I'd have to do some sort of formal comparison with stable material (a DVD or BD) to get a better handle on that. Maybe, if I get fired up enough.
