Concerning the the elite badge. My 7g has a badge that sticks out, like its glued on top of the bezel..
I looked the 8g 150 yesterday and it seems to be silk screened under/inside the bezel. Not a badge. Nice and clean. 9g 151 has what appears to be a badge thats recessed into the bezel but still sticks out slightly. I prefer the 150 style and can't understand the change back.

Nitpicking I know. I do like how the pwr, vol, usb and other controls are now on only one side (left). Will miss my second ant. port though.

Ha, I almost posted about this, but I didn't want people to think that I was too neurotic

Yes, the Elite logo on the 8G is overlayed by the glass which gives it a higher quality appearance, imo. This was probably one way in which they cut down their cost. I can't see why else they would have changed it.

But that's cool, at least it gives 8G owners one thing they can hang their hat on.

No , not neurotic.

It's a bit hokey to change back like that but will not detract from my viewing pleasure one bit. I 'll just put my center in front of it if it will fit . That 36"+ wide Kuro stand/footprint is eating up all the real estate on the top of my tv stand. PS3 which sits nicely under the screen will have to be relocated.

I currently have a 5010, with a 111 on the way to replace it (what a time to get a stuck pixel and have to replace your TV, huh?). So why stop upgrading while I'm at it. At any rate, I had to make this stuff fit into a room in a Victorian house, so this frame helped everything blend. Don't know if it has anything to do with my never hearing the dreaded buzz. Makes how the Elite badge looks irrelevant to me.
Love seeing what others have done - some pretty incredible setups.

Wow! Whatever the opposite of "jinx" is, that's what happened with this post: I came home to a blinking light on the answering machine. Delivery's scheduled for next Thursday.

I was making fun of myself, for the record.

Congrats on the 111. Your setup is very tasteful and elegant. What kind of speakers are those? I think I've seen them in pictures of another poster's full Home Theatre setup.

B&W, Bowers & Wilkens, the newer models 802D/800D go for something like $12-20K for the front pair.

oops just checked and think the new retail on the B&W 802D is $14,000 a pair and the 800D is $23,000 a pair ........goes against the better, newer for less $$ ideas

I saw the Pioneer Elite Pro-151FD at BB today and what a beautiful picture. I couldnt really make a comparison because they had it playing a Blu-Ray at the time. Gotta luv it!!!

I told my wife that the TV is off limits until next Wednesday. Good thing she is out of town for a couple of days and I have 3 other TV's as well. One for the kids one for her and one for me. Here are a couple of pictures.

I see yours is in a tight Entertainment center. Any heat issues? Do you have fans in the back?

The cabinet can be found on stanleyfurniture.com . The Rep at Carl's Furniture told me to go on their site and pick out what I wanted and they could order it. Got lucky with the fit. I have about a half an inch of space on either side. Good thing I don't need to use the speakers.

It is pretty tight. There really isn't any heat from the back. I have been checking it periodically with constantly running the break-in DVD and behind the screen is actually pretty cool. It does have some heat out the top which makes the top shelf a little warm, but most of the heat is from the screen. I keep the house between 75 and 77 degrees at all time so hopefully that helps.

Sorry to barge in on your thread, guys, but I've been waiting for the new Kuros to come out as well. After getting a call today that they've reached the local warehouse, I was looking at specs for sizing details and became alarmed at what I DIDN'T see.

Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but do the new ones not have a cablecard slot?? This is a potential deal-breaker for me, as I absolutely hate those Comcast cable boxes. Can anyone confirm this one way or another?
Sorry... No cablecard.

Oh CRAP! Has Pioneer abandoned the technology? I don't understand that, as anyone who buys a nice TV like these is not going to use just OTA or basic cable signals. Without a cablecard, aren't the onboard tuners utterly useless?

Are all of you using cable or satellite set-top boxes??
Those are the B&W 802Ds. I have loved the 5010FD, especially after calibration. Would have remained happy, but the stuck pixel opened up the opportunity to both jump to the next generation and upgrade to the Elite. Looking forward to getting started with break in

I did a quick check and from what I can see Panasonic and the new Sammys are without cable cards. If I am mistaken please correct me.

I'll take your word for it. I know Sony stopped including them a few years ago, and other manufacturers have as well. Manufacturers basically caved to pressure from the cable providers, who prefer to force us to use their STBs so they can sell us added content. I really appreciated that Pioneer had resisted that trend and continued to support customers who want to use the internal tuners, but I guess now they're giving up the fight as well.

Doesn't it seem kind of silly that we spend so much money on our high-end AV gear, yet we watch TV programs tuned through low-end equipment built by the lowest bidder? Like I said, I just hate the thought of having to get one of those ugly plastic boxes....

Yes we have been discussing this. It doesnt seem like the cable companies are very enthused about us using cable cards anyway. They would much rather that we use the cable box so we can order on demand etc. and they make more money.

Fits perfectly.

Using the Burn in USB how long are you leaving each picture on the screen ?

Thanks
30 seconds for each picture
this may seem like a stupid question but here it is

I am very picky about contrast on TV's and black levels, because of this I still prefer my 40" SONY CRT Trinitron over my newer 1080p 42" XBR4 - so much so I sold it to my neighbor and kept my 5 year old TV since the picture was so much better

and yes both were professionally calibrated, even the ISF dude who came out said that the CRT looked better - I was pissed to say the least having spent so much money on the TV and then to have it calibrated and the CRT to look much better was crap IMO

will I have this problem with the Elite's? is the blacks up to par with CRT as of yet or should I wait another year or so until the 10g and 11g panels come out

I finally finished the 150 hours break-in. That was a rough 6 days. Replaced the 5010 with the 151FD and hooked up my HTPC and ran some 720p movies. I don't have a BR player yet. All I can say is, Unbelievable. I will post pics tomorrow.
