Very funny for the prior reply!
Yes, the DVP-602CI DOES handle 240p via component video! I've yet to try and tweak with the settings, but it looks like it tries to deinterlace 240p as 480i (display on the front of the unit remains 480i). I tested this by playing a NES virtual console Wii game. You have to switch the Wii to 480i mode in order to get 240p output from the corresponding VC games.
With 240p scaling from the 602CI, input lag is significant (wild guess would be >100ms). My TV was in game mode when I noticed this. The 602CI would be an awesome 240p scaler if they made a few FW "Feature Additions".
The menu on the 602CI indicates that the functionality can be updated (Add New Feature), but outside of dealership agreements with Denon, I don't think consumers have access to make this unit work correctly with 240p, or have a game mode/computer scaling mode!!!
All I've tried is the basic tests with the Wii. I have a Kramer FC-14 I can use to test out other 240p RGB sources:
RGB 240p -> Kramer FC-14 -> Denon DVP-602CI -> TV @ 1080p
I was surprised to see that you cannot select the output resolution. The Denon seems to just select the panel max, and thankfully selects the correct resolution (i.e. 1080p)!!!
