Bi-Wire Klipsch RF-82

Hey,
I am thinking of buying the RF-82. I have a okay A/V Receiver its a JVC RXD302B. The Question I have is would I be better off wiring two different channels to them to provide better power. I am going to be using them as fronts and I was thinking bi-wireing em using the two back surround channels. As I am just replacing the Fronts. So the question is Would I get better "sound" if i bi-wired them using two different channels or would that be just a waste of wire. I am going to be using a 12 ga Acoustic Research wire. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Thank You

there are a bunch of threads on bi-wiring. perhaps do a search and read those first.

I did do a search but couldn't find anything wired with two different channels that I was talking about. If you know of any threads please tell me. Thank you

what "mode" in the JVC were you planning on using ?

does it have some kind of 5/7 channel stereo mode ?

if it does, it should work

technically that would be bi-amping

using any other mode like pro-logic or anything else would be nutty

i just looked up your receiver

http://av.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelI...athId=5&page=2

for this to work you would need to use the mode "ALL CH STEREO"

this set-up would only work if your only plans were to use the system for stereo only listening

you might even want to set your surrounds as "small" and use those outputs for the tweeters

What you are describing is passive biamping, not biwiring.

Does your receiver allow you to specifically assign the surround rear amps to biamp duty? If so, and you really want to do it, there is no good reason to recommend against doing it. If not, then you cannot do it. I would NOT at all recommend what otk said you could do with the "ALL CH STEREO" setting.

why not? all that mode does is send an identical stereo signal to the rears

It's just not a good solution. He'd have to leave the receiver in that mode all the time! It'd be useless with 5.1 setup. It may work if he only has a 2-channel setup. And you are assuming that his receiver simply duplicates the front channel info identically at the surround channels in 5-channel stereo mode. And I don't know how the rear surround channels might be utilized in 5 channel stereo mode, if that is hat he planned upon using.

Do a search on bi wiring, passive bi amping, bi amping, etc. This comes up at least once a week, there must be 15 threads on this topic at least.

not really. his question was about using the surround channels to bi-amp his mains

Actually this does come up quite a bit. If your stereo has the capability to re-assign the rear surrounds to bi- amping then yes you could try it. I'm of the opinion that a decent amp(with a single set of wires) will do more for sound than using a mediocre amp(commercial receiver) to bi-amp.

You cannot bi-amp with your receiver.

Remember to remove the bridge before you hook it all up or poof, of you go.

IMO, I have onkyo 805 and RF-82 and I think it just a waste of my cables.

I did it with my Yamaha to see for myself and noticed almost no difference. On the other hand I hooked an old adcom 200 wattx2 amp to them and they just rock. Definitely better bass and cleaner sound.
