BH200 firmware watch... - Page 12

From the hints that were dropped, it sounds like BD-Live to me too.

As to why they would send out cheques and still release BD-Live... if that's what is actually happening, I'd say it was case of a large company having many different divisions which are unaware of what the other divisions are doing.

Again, this is speculation, but it may be a case of one division deciding to pass on Live and go the "pay-out" route (without much regard for the consumer), and then the CEO catching wind of the situation and deciding that's not the way he wants the company to do business.

I worked for a large corporation, and I've seen first hand how poor internal communication can be... it can be amazingly bad.

So, I guess we just have to wait now and see what the BIG release entails.

Well the news sounds really good. Puts me in a better frame of mind when I think about the future of my BH200 (and the continued future support).

Thx SamsungMaster.

Samsungmaster, thanks for your efforts in making our voices heard and finding out information on the support situation. I only wish that the CEO knew how poor the Canadian division is in dealing with it's customers.

I look forward to finding out what 'IT' is, even if it's not BD-Live. I like my LG BH200 and I don't want to get rid of it. Knowing that the CEO has taken a personal interest in the situation makes me feel much better about keeping the player, despite having to potentially deal with LG Canada in the future.

Anyway, thanks again.

I get the same feeling...

If the update is BD-Live I will be singing from the hills!

Hopefully we're right.

Personally, it was this clue that gives me the impression:

"The future BIG update will give you guys a chance to discuss the possibilities, the forum is a little slow "

Couple his hint with recent BD-Live announcements such as this:

"Join the live chat on Nov 23 with Hellboy II Director Guillermo del Toro"

... I think the key to his hint is the word "discuss".

And, although some people think BD-Live is gimicky and useless, I think for fans of a movie, a live chat with the director is a pretty cool BD-Live bonus feature.

I could pass on the BD-Live- I'm hoping for DTS-HD MA decoding

Thanks samsungmaster all your efforts they are appreciated!!!! It better be good !!!!!( the promised good news)( samsungmaster not meant for u the messenger btw!!!!!) or this is my last LG product. I agree in Canada they have been treating us very poorly. Hard to swallow that I have maybe purchased another orphaned product when the BH-200 has all the right stuff to be somewhat future proof. Time will tell if I continue to purchase or move onto anoither brand. I hope LG u are reading and listening!!!!
If they can fix all the dropouts, dd+ signal not being recognized and the 4x3 stretch along with a time remaining display i'd be mostly happy.

The James Bond "For your eyes only" problem is being addressed by the developers.

I addressed the audio/video dropouts and this is a tough one. I encourage everyone to check and see if your receivers and tv's have software updates that need to be done. After this if you are still having issues after the updates then contact LG customer service and give them the models of your equipment so they can pass this on to the developers. I say this is a tough one due to the fact that their test lab has various brands of receivers and tv's and these issues are tough to simulate.

I do not have a time line for this update but there will be a BIG update for the BH200, not sure if LG will announce it or just release the update but if you are a BH200 owner I would not sell my unit.

oh, by the way, the CEO told the developers to get "it" done.

I think it's going to take me a week to get all of this soju out of my system

Excellent news! Thanks for the update...and the suspense. Looking forward to finding out what "it" is. The speculation is already quite interesting.

Thanks for checking into our concerns samsungmaster. We're obviously lucky to have you here! The same is true of LG, whether they recognize it not (hopefully they do recognize the positive impact you've had here).

Sounds like you had a great trip.

I figured this was the case. It must be hard to track down the root cause when it affects so many brands and I suspect it's not the same root problem, but a few issues which happen to have the same symptoms.

A BIG thanks Samsungmaster for the update. We cannot wait . Personally I really hope "time remaining" and "total time" are added to the Display option, just showing "duration" is most annoying, especially with extras where the running time isn't listed.

$75 REBATE INFORMATION

Call 1 (800) 243-0000

For the lazy, the numbers you would press to get to the proper party would be 1, 1, 3, 4 (switch the first 1 with a 2 if you speak Spanish). When you hit 4, and the person answers, just say you are calling in regards to the "BD-Live Update Rebate Program". They knew exactly what I was talking about and sent me over to the person in control of the rebate.

The very nice lady took my information. I also told her what titles I was having issues with (For Your Eyes Only, Madagascar, Kill Bill 1/2, Shooter HD DVD). Not only did they tell me I would get two, $75 checks (since I own 2 BH 200's), but that they would send me a firmware update disc when the new one comes out. Couldn't have been happier, honestly. Figured like most CSR's I'd have to explain to them what was going on, but she knew everything already. Good job, LG! Get my 2.0 and I'll sell my S550.

Make sure you have your Serial #'s handy (located on the back of your player) and your receipts (or atleast know where you bought them from - they will need you to fax them your receipts at a later time).
great info. I just setup my BH-200 and sent my sammy Up5000 back for a refund.
Got my 75$ check as well - maybe Amazon will come through with the 99$ Sony player (I had the Sears Panny BD35 special blow up on me while at least a few others were able to get it for 149$ - still no actual loss to me).

It makes me not check LG off the list when buying products - they easily could've said "sorry, tough luck" but they didn't.

$75 check arrived from LG today.

Got mine also. Exactly one week from my conversation with CS.

Looks like you and I were in the same queue. I am re-thinking my opinion toward LG, primarily based on the news from Samsungmaster. Of course, the $75 check doesn't hurt.

Just recently sold one of the three 200s that I bought to a neighbor, no receiver but hooked directly to his newly bought Sammy 40" TV. I let him borrow a couple of my BDs and both he and his wife said they were blown away........jokingly said they may never go out of the house again. LOL

In addition, the last one I bought which will now go to my son, has been working very well, minus one audio hiccup with the "Hulk" BD.

Now, we just wait and see what LG's cooking up for their new fw release.

I got my check today too. It took 7 business days. That's really good for a corporation.

Now if we can only get the FW upgrade to fix the 4:3 stretching, dropouts and BD-Live, I might start liking LG again!
Got my first check of three, six days since calling, five since faxing. That's pretty darn quick. That along with the upcoming BIG update makes me feel alot better. I was holding off on a 42" HDTV purchase because of this. If LG comes through, I'll certainly look at an LG TV. Otherwise it's on to another brand.

I can't see the BIG update being specific disc fixes or dropout-related stuff (for the reasons stated above). I figure it's either NetFlix or BD-Live. Everything else is NOT BIG in my opinion. Although I do hope they fix the 4:3 issue. I consider that medium-big....
Got my check today as well. Just a bit over a week. I'm very impressed.
Got my check last week. Here's to hoping we get a frimware for the bond discs.

I received my $75 rebate from LG today. I’m pretty impressed with LG’s prompt response time. Just WOW, normally a corporation has a 4 – 8 week reply time.

Did mine yesterday as well. Had to email my receipt to the woman I spoke with. I'm hoping she received it.
Very glad to see them giving out muiltiple rebates for multiple machines...you can also email them with a scan of your receipt and the serial # if you don't feel like calling also. As others have said it took a few days to get the confirmation then about a week for the check. Nice!

BIG update huh? Disc fixes wouldn't qualify as a BIG update. Netflix maybe? I'm already cover there with my TiVoHD, but I'm sure it would make a lot of people happy. Guess we'll see what the BIG update is in time.

John

I'd give up BD Live anyway for Netflix. I hope you are right. I have 4 of these units and I am hanging on to them (the $75 each brings my costs down to a really attractive $225 per unit), so something I never bargained for like this would be welcomed.

Anyone else like me and really never cared for the BD live concept anyway? After reading about units "phoning home" to let the mothership know when you are playing one of their discs is a little unnerving to me. What could come next? Letting them know every disc you play (porno, copies, etc.)? One of the reasons I got rid of my first PS3 was just that reason. According to the EULA, they can know a boatload of what you do...

I bought an LG TV yesterday for that reason alone. I needed one and the LG was the same price as several others- so it went to the top of my list. Off topic- the LG looks good and has the best sound I have heard in a small bedroom sized set- FYI

That is decent customer service.

Yes, there are others, but if you mention it isn't worth it and will probably end up a fad (I.e. the way of multi-angle on DVD -- remember that?) you will be chastised. If you continue on, you will be taken out behind the barn and beaten badly

the multi angle dvd was sweet for concert dvd's!

Got my rebate check yesterday. Did not need receipt they had me in their database when I registered player. I think its wishful thinking that LG it going to upgrade to 2.0 after they paid buyers $75.00 in lieu of 2.0. As long as they address other issues such as 4:3, etc. I will be happy.
I did the email thing today for the rebate. Should I call as well? Not sure if the email is good enough. I attached a copy of my receipt to the email.
I faxed my info. into LG today. Now I have three hd-dvd (A20 and A30)and two blu-ray (s300, s301 ,and 360 add on )players on hand. I stream sd-dvd throughout the house ,so these got to go. I don't see much need to watch a blu-ray or hd-dvd in any place other then the HTR.
