Suggestions for center channel and receiver based on the setup

Currently I am planning to use 6 Martin Logan Montages, for front left-right, sides and back speakers.

I will using this setup for movies 90% of the time. My room size is 16' wide x 21' length x 8' high.

So my questions are:

1. Is this a good setup for a watching movies?

2. What is a good center channel speaker that would complement these Montages?

I was looking into the ML Vignette (a good fit for my budget) or ML fresco (a little tough on my budget, but I could work it out if its a good match).

The Montages have impedance of 5 ohms. Vignette's impedance is 6 ohms and Fresco has an impedance of 5 ohms

3. What might be a good receiver for handling these speakers?

My main concern is will the receiver be able to handle if I choose to combine the montages with vignette, which have different impedance.

4. Also since the impedance is 5 ohms will the receiver get over heated?

FYI: I don't what impedance is but one of the sale's rep at bestbuy said that I can't use speakers with different ohms.

I am new to all this, so please excuse me for any inaccurate comments and consider them to be naive.

Really appreciate any comments / input / suggestions.

Thank you.

I would look for a deal on a pre-owned ML Fresco on Audiogon, I have seen several mint ones go in the $500 range.

I would also look at a separate dedicated high current low impedance drive capable multichannel amplifier to drive all the speakers. I just don't think a receiver will be able to drive your setup to you liking...

So you think I should use a amp in conjunction with the receiver? And if so, could you recommend me a good amp.

I would at least drive the front three channels with a seperate amplifier.

What's your price range?

Well, I was looking into the denon avr 3805, 3808 or 2808 receivers. If you think none of these receivers can do the job, a amp that would nicely complement these is what I am looking for.

Price range is around $300-500

Adcom GFA 7000, 5 channel x 130W (8 ohm) or 5 x 200W (4 ohm) THX Certified amplifier.

ATI 1505, 5 x 150W (8 ohm) and I think it is 5 x 250 (4 ohm).

B&K AV 5000 ll, 105W x 5 (8 ohm) and I think it is 5 x170 (4 ohm).

All can be found pre-owned for around $500 - $700 on Audiogon.

I think the ATI would be the best choice but it will be closer to the $700 mark...

I was just looking up fresco and some other stuff on audiogon, a great website, for some awesome deals.

Thank you for these quick replies.

realizing that the Montages require a lot of power, I am looking into Monitor audio Rs6 and Rs8 speakers. Because buying a receiver and an amp will put me over the budget.

Do you guys think, RS8 for left - right, RS6 for rear, RSClr for center and the FX for sides (being 6 ohms) require less power than the 6 montages that was planning to use and I can just buy a denon 2808 receiver to run them?

Also how do the RS8's compare with the Montages?

Thank you
