Seen a couple BRs cheaper than Amazon.
But not by much and not very many, I'll bet. I never go to these sales, but Borders' "regular price" is very often higher than MSRP, and even at 50% off the prices can usually be beat online. By the time the discounts at these GOOB sales become competitive, there's usually not much left that you'd want to buy. (I believe it's a third party running these sales, not Borders themselves.)

Agreed with Borders, but if you have an Ultimate Electronics in your area they have quite some deals. They just hit 50% off (and it's not off of MSRP, but the last marked price) last Thursday and the deals are quite good. Most Criterion blu's are under $15, for example. I say most because Night of the Hunter and Seven Samurai are both $17.50. I still found quite a few of them as of yesterday in my area. Since they've been at 30% and 40%, they've beat quite a number of Amazon's lowest historical prices for certain titles. Of course, YMMV.

Se7en and The Exorcist - $18.99 each at Amazon - not exactly cheap, but the cheapest they have been.

It's not online, but at the Borders brick and mortar stores that are closing.

Amazon has matched the Target price, though obviously the coupon can't be used (AFAIK). Amazon did have an $8 or so e-coupon thingy when it was first available for pre-release (though I missed out on that).

What do you guys think about the Lord of the Rings (extended cut). I preordered on amazon, but i don't wanna really pay the 83.99 price. Does amazon drop it's prices before release?

They have a pre-order guarantee. You pay the price they are selling it for when they make the first shipments. After that, you're on your own. They are usually the same (or competitive) with major B&M store prices at release time.

Actually, you pay the lowest price before release date, not the price when it's shipped, so if the price goes down and back up before shipping, you still pay the lowest amount.

According to this, you can get it for $67.96 from WB Shop. I haven't tried it.

Yeah, but you still need to monitor your orders. I buy a lot off of Amazon and there's been more then one time where they did not lower my price when the price dropped on a title. Happens most when they drop the price for a short time and then jack it back up. I had to cancel and re-order.

I believe that. I never watch the prices while pre-ordered. I just know that once they know B&M's prices, they match it or come very close. Which I could see once in a while not being the lowest price they ever offered. Too bad they don't do the 30-day thing any more....

Tried this, and both codes given for the lower price say expired when I do.

I think you can still use the codes "BDLIVE" and "FREESHIP" and it will work.

That happened to me just today with Tangled. The pre-order price was $29.99, but it's currently listed for $24.99. The shipped it and charged me the higher price. I called and they gave me my $5.

And I probably should have pointed out that I was referring to the 4 disc combo pack with the 3D Blu Ray included.

Target has a $5 off any Disney Bluray ($24.99 or more) coupon in their recent mailer. This in combination with the DMR $5 coupon brought my total to $16.74 after tax for the Tangled 4 disc set. It also comes with a Tangled Little Golden Book w/ stickers in the packing, exclusive to Target. After the $5 mail-in rebate from Success Rice: http://www.successrice.com/en-us/con...-InRebate.aspx it comes out to under $12 for the 4-disc set. Pretty good IMO.
To sweaten the deal, here is a coupon for $1 off any two Success Rice: http://coupons.redplum.com/offers/de...efaultZipCode=

you actually pay the lowest price on the item since you placed your order...so if 2 people order the same item 2 weeks apart at $90 and the first person's pre-order price went down to $70 and back up to $90 while the 2nd person's price went down to $80 and back up to $90, they both don't get the $70 price

Amazon normally doesn't do any price adjustments until WEDNESDAY of the release week. You would have received the $5 credit tomorrow. They do this in case the price drops further on release day. Many people panic and cancel their order and re-order, or call in before Wednesday for an adjustment, but you don't need to do that. I've been pre-ordering from Amazon for years (over 100 movies easy), and I always get an email on Wednesday with the price adjustment.

Thanks, that's a decent price for a newly-released, top-drawer catalog title.

Seems like a good time for classic film aficianados these days. This week I've jumped on the following BD sales:

"Casablanca" (single-disc) @ Ross for $9.99

"Bridge on the River Kwai" (2-disc collector's edition digi-book) @ Target for $16.99
