I think this is more a matter of Fox titles have a high MRSP as opposed to amazon "jacking up prices". Even on regular ole DVD, Fox titles always seem to cost more than other studios' releases

Are these hidden first-week prices just for ordering online? Are they pre-order only prices? Whatever the case, I'm going to print off the pages tonight and try to price match on Tuesday.

This is excellent. Pre-ordered (for in-store pick-up) Risky Business for $18.99, The Mist for $21.99, and Made of Honor for $23.99. If they had these prices every week, Best Buy would get more of my business.

I'm going to wait on Risky Business. I can see that title eventually reaching something like $11.99-13.99 online at some point here soon like some of Warner's other catalog titles.

According to this thread here, it sounds like BVHE isn't going to honor the rebate if yo purchased via Amazon.com. Supposedly becaue the Amazon price was already discounted, even though BB's price was exactly the same.

U.K version officially features LPCM. Please ignore the product description and checkout the customer images I had posted to confirm presence of LPCM.

No. It would take at least several days before you could access your account and place orders. The sale will probably be over by then. CH has only had a few sales on Blu-rys thus far, and I think they have all been very short, like a one day sale.
Just an FYI, but when I checked at 10:30AM CDT, Commando had dropped from 27.95 to 14.95 on Amazon. Its not a reference PQ BD, but for those interested in a guilty pleasure, as far as '80s action-movies, its a good price. I haven't seen it that low before on Amazon.

amazon just dropped the godfather set back down to 61.95

Turns out I was wrong. I have been informed that the sale is supposed to last till the 25th. (please keep in mind that CH could end the early, but not likely)
So, you could sign up today, and if approved in time, you MIGHT be able to take advantage of the BOGO sale.

The fact that you'd have to get 5-7 SD DVD's to enroll, hardly makes it worth it. Not to mention the fulfillment (don't know how BD's fit into CH's enrollment quota).

When I've called before they never asked where I bought them. BS if they don't honor the rebates. Only saved $10 total by buying the bundle, when the rebates are $10 a title!

Border's has the Godfather trilogy for $61.79...the 40% coupon should work on top of this right?

finally it dropped back. i figure with the 10 dollar credit from paramount along with the 20 bucks i can sell the dvds for its worth an upgrade for 30 bucks.

the shawshank redemption is now up for pre-order at the warner site. and ANWBTS is still active. it's the coupon code that just keeps going and going and going, apparently.

Those 5-7 dvds would only cost you a few dollars. So then let's say that you need to buy 3 at regular price to fulfill your membership. Every disc that you buy for $19.99 or more counts as 1. So if you were to do the BOGO three times (Buy-3-Get-3-Free), that would fulfill the membership and you'd be done. Then take the Sd-Dvds to your local trade in store and get another Blu-ray or 2 for the trade in .

or you can call in and contact them and use the Code BLW to sign up for 3 blu rays at $4.99 and 3 more to buy in 2 years. No need to even touch DVD's.

Yep, I amassed almost all of my 900 DVD's by using multiple CH accounts, so I'm pretty familiar with the process (average price per DVD for my whole collection is under $6). I would think, however, that most of the members in this thread aren't really interested in adding another 10 - 15 SD DVD's to their collection, and your trade in deal wouldn't be beneficial either, because it would basically cost you all of those SD DVD's to get maybe 2 BD's at a cost of $60 (kinda kills the original savings).

Are you sure about this? I've inquired several times over at dvdtalk and have always been told there is no Blu ray only club.

Edit: Just tried to use that code and it gives you this deal: Pick 5 DVDs for $0.49 each plus $1.99 shipping & processing

you can't do it online. You have to call in and use that code. I just did it today.

I'll give it a try. Usually phone in only codes don't have an online counterpart.
Stew, where are you getting 2 BRs for $60
If BR's are $30 (most are $30 or LESS), and there is a BOGO, then that is $30 for 2, not $60.

Also wormwrapper is correct, that is a Blu phone in only code. You could also mail it in if you got that app in the mail. I wasn't aware they were still doing that. I had heard it was to be a short lived experiment by CH. Apparantly if WW just signed up with it, then it must still be active.

Of course, this is all moot now that there's a way to enter just for Blu Ray, but for the sake of discussion, my point was it's not worth it to join just for the Blu Ray sale. Here's why:

OK, lets say you have the get 6 now, buy 3 more deal (one of the better deals). Your 6 now are going to cost you about $10 (with shipping and tax added). The buy 3 more deal is going to cost you another $75 (@ $20 per movie + shipping and tax.). Now if you use BOGO every time, you'll get 3 more movies, but it'll still cost you $75. So, you'll have 9-12 SD movies for a total price of $85. How much are those SD movies worth if you trade them in somewhere? $3 - $5 apiece? You could turn in all those movies somewhere and get about $30 - $60 in credit. How many Blu Rays will that buy you? 2-3? So, you will have spent $85 to get 2-3 Blu Ray movies.

Even if you join in time to take advantage of the current BOGO on Blu Ray, most of them are $30 - $40 shipped. So even if you bought 8 movies now (and only paid for 4), it would cost you $120 - $160 for 8 movies. That's a pretty good deal at $15 - $20 per movie.

However, if you now calculate in the cost of joining, you will have spent a total of $205 - $250 and received 10 - 11 movies. That comes out to an average cost per Blu Ray of $21 - $25 per movie. Now, you might find free shipping codes and other deals along the way, but the point is that unless you WANT SD DVD's, it's not worth the cost of the hassle to join just for the BOGO sale on Blu Rays.
