Now I have to decide if it's worthwhile to cancel all my pre-orders at WHV and Family Video to replace those with Amazon. I guess I could save $1-2 off each movie, but it's such a hassle and time consuming to boot. I wish Amazon had a sort by price function that really worked.

Well, thanks to people like this, the deal is probably dead now.

I placed an order for 3 movies early this morning and still have yet to hear a response from them. I have an ugly feeling that when Amazon starts responding to our messages tomorrow, they'll more than likely say they have pulled the deal and will not honor any more requests. So, for those of you who got in early, I'm pretty jealous!

I'm going to make an order and hope for the best, but I may cancel it if it doesn't work. I've never canceled an Amazon order... Do you just call or e-mail and make a request, or is it a pain in the ass?

It's easy. Just a couple clicks of the mouse and it's done.

Post if it works. I haven't seen anyone from Canada who got this deal. Not sure how they can discriminate.

I have not received an email response to my order yet.

Will do... I just made the order and sent the e-mail, so we'll see what happens, tomorrow. I've ordered about 50 peices from them since January, so I feel like I'm a good enough customer for them to honour it, if it is in fact a legit deal.

To play it safe, 1-click purchasing should be used, since it gives you a 90 minute window to cancel your order through the site. Preorders through the normal shopping cart method will work too.

I haven't gotten my adjustments yet for my last three orders, and Kill Bill was already "ready to ship" a couple of seconds after I placed the order. Needless to say, it may be going back.

Any recent reports of e-mail credits being issued? I just rolled the dice, and ordered:

The Godfather - The Coppola Restoration Giftset [Blu-ray]
Firefly: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]
Austin Powers Collection: Shagadelic Edition Loaded With Extra Mojo (BD)

I sent an email a few hours ago and received a credit within 15 minutes. Make sure you select Promotions from the drop down box. Choosing that drastically reduced my response time for my last two orders (first time I chose refund).

Damn....too late, I selected "refunds'.

Second order:

Wall-E (Two-Disc) [Blu-ray]
Mongol [Blu-ray]
Planet of the Apes (40th Anniversary Edition) [Blu-ray]

I don't see why the need to complain either. How often is it that every movie is available for a deal like this? When I'm able to get new release day/date blockbusters in a B2G1F, I'll take it however I can get it

Summary about what happened

Basically Amazon sent an e-mail offering a Buy 3 for 2 Sale, however when the link in the e-mail was clicked there was no movie selection available. The link in the e-mail took you to a page which said:

Quote:

Blu-ray 3 for 2 Sale

For every two Blu-ray titles purchased, get a third one free when you add them all to your Shopping Cart.

Go to the Blu-ray store

So it was assumed that ALL titles where offered in the Buy 3 for 2 Sale. However, the promotion did not take when people were adding three movies to their carts.

People began calling Amazon to get a Customer Service Representative to adjust the erroneous charge on their order. People also e-mailed their Refunds & Exchanges, and Promotional discounts department and orders were adjusted accordingly. For the most part orders are pending with a Price not available (Before shipping, we'll e-mail the price to you for your approval.) next to the third movie in each of their orders.

We can only hope they honor their mistake and this is what they should have been doing all along instead of recycling the same old movie selections when offering a Buy 3 for 2 Sale.

I got Amazon to remove the third movie completely on my first order:

Quote:

Hello from Amazon.com.

I'm sorry that our promotional offer was not applied to your order.

To correct this error, I've reduced the cost of your order by $14.95.

I hope this solution is satisfactory and apologize once again for this inconvenience.

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com.

After 10 hours my second order was corrected:

Quote:

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I'm sorry that our promotional offer was not applied to your order.

To correct this error, I've reduced the cost of your order by $59.95.

Rest assured that you will be charged for only $125.94 at time of shipment.

I hope this solution is satisfactory and apologize once again for this inconvenience.

Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com.

So here's my run:

Order #1:

David Gilmour: Remember That Night - Live At The Royal Albert Hall [Blu-ray]
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City Music Hall [Blu-ray]
Men in Black [Blu-ray]

Grand Total: $39.90
Cost Per Movie: $13.30

Order #2:

Band of Brothers [Blu-ray]
Firefly: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]
James Bond Blu-ray Collection Three-Pack, Vol. 1 (Dr. No / Die Another Day / Live and Let Die) [Blu-ray]

Grand Total: $125.94
Cost Per Box Set: $41.98

Now I am really tempted to do another order, lol. I think I'll hold off for now.

Worst that could happen is I cancel the orders or they cancel everyone's orders. However, since they're going this far most likely they'll go through with it.

To contact Amazon:

Click on the "Help" link in the upper right hand corner.

Choose "Contact Us" on the right hand side of the screen.

Chose Gift Certificates/Cards & Promotional Offers for the issue type and type in your order number.

Well, I just got in on the offer.
American Gangster
Indiana Jones
Iron Man
I have not seen a return e-mail yet. (placed my order less than 5 minutes ago)
I'll let everyone know as soon as I receive confirmation.
If all goes well with this order, I think I'll pick up Hancock, Narnia PC and Wall - E.
Thanks to all who have helped!

I don't like the idea of not seeing pricing right in front of me when I purchase my order.
So you guys are saying that you purchased your three Blu Rays from the link above and later you received an e-mail from Amazon that stated they reduced the price to make one of the movies free??
Right now I have Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull = $26.95.
American Gangster = $20.95.
Iron Man Ultimate Two Disc Edition = $27.95.
$54+ is a whole lot better than $75.85 would be.
I placed an order 6:34pm and got the price adjusted 6:54PM. PST.
I placed 3 more orders starting 7:18pm and have not gotten any order price adjusted yet at 8:00pm. I guess the promotion must have ended around 7:00~7:45pm, and I may need to cancel 10+ items.
I placed all 5 of my orders by early this a.m. When I sent the emails to get the free disc in each order I sent it through the refund link. I didn't receive an email till 1830 PST tonight saying they credited each order for 1 disc. The link now says the sale is over as someone posted earlier.

So what does everyone think? Will Amazon honor all the existing orders in the morning? If they don't, it'd seem mighty unfair that some people got the deal while others didn't. In that case, would ALL orders be cancelled?

I read about one guy on FatWallet who ordered hundreds of movies for his eBay business. Since they started working the deal from early in the day on Saturday, maybe its those types of e-mails that were causing things to lag for the rest of us. Anyway, I understand (and hope) that orders like that be cancelled, but what about those who placed one or even two to three? Makes me sick to think that he was getting approval messages all throughout Saturday where guys like us are left hanging.

Well i'm from Southern Ontario and i did get my one order to go through with no problem. I screwed up my order last night (had an extra Speed Racer in cart and forget to reduce to one) I had the discount work after the e-mail but canceled and re-ordered again because of extra disc. So i re-ordered this morning around 10:30am and went to work and came back around 6:!5pm and my order was adjusted and i got my Speed Racer for free.

Too bad the deal is done i had a pre-order list set for some Nov releases

Sorry to have missed this...
just got a free ironman on this, order done 12.30AM, amount credited on 5.09AM
post #1761 of 14818
I'm from Calgary and I got in on it as well.

My guess is if you sent your email in before they pulled the page they will honour it.

This could be a good thing long term as well. Manager walks in monday morning. and asks how things went on the weekend. Answer we mistakenly had a B2G1 on the weekend and the whole place exploded. We're still clearing the backlog. Some people made 10 orders. Maybe a light bulb goes on in some ones head and down the road we start to see legit deals again. Or not, who knows. Obviously we got their attention though.
...or you could see about 10,000 cancelled orders.
If they cancel all of us who got confirmation already I'm through with Amazon. They've become an embarrassment to what they used to be.
Do you think Amazon will cancel our orders automatically? I am thinking that in the case of denying the promotion, we need to cancel the orders ourselves.
I placed my order at 10am this morning for Wall-E, Indy IV, and The Incredible Hulk and sent an email a few minutes after (through the "contact us" link on the website... "promotions/ gift card issues")... it is not 12:35am and still no reply back.... I am hoping to that I will hear something soon, preferably not a cancellation.
Damned. Should have placed at least 3 more orders...now, link expired!

Well, at least got one in early Sunday (2:10AM) and just checked my email to see the response from Amazon at 9:20AM showing the 3rd disc is $0...

Lesson learned: NEVER HESITATE...JUST DO IT! Can ALWAYS cancel orders later...instead of regretting now...
I have to thank all you who have been writing about that brief Amazon Buy 2 get one free Bluray sale. While browsing through this forum yesterday I read about the link to Amazon. So I gave it a try and preordered Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Incredible Hulk and Vexille BD's. Of course when it totaled it gave the full price for all three. But I made the order anyway knowing that if the link had expired I could always cancel. I then emailed Amazon Customer Service and asked if the link was still active. I shortly received a very nice response saying it was and was credited $24.95. My total for all three was $54.90. I have said it many times, but in my humble opinion Amazon sets the standard for Internet merchants. And thanks again for the heads up on the sale. That is why I check this thread on a daily basis.
