Upgrading from a HTIB setup - Looking for advice

I've had the Logitech Z-5500 5.1 setup (I guess it's not a true HTIB but it's a packaged set) for 3 years now and it's been servicable but I started to look around at upgrading. I would need everything including a receiver but I can do most of my own research on that (feel free to suggest though) My real question is what would I be looking at spending to truely make it worth upgarding over the z5500s. From the reading I've done I was thinking something along the lines of the following:

Polk Monitor 50s (2x) fronts ~ $250ish
Polk CS1 Center ~ $100
Rears?
Sub?

I don't have a budget, but I don't think I would be comfortable spending over $1000 with a receiver and I would feel better spending between $600-800. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Surround - Monitor 30
Sub - the best one you can afford

The M50's in Maple are on sale at fry's online right now for $97 each. For me shipping is listed as under $20 for the pair.

The Polk monitors are a fine choice for the money. You can find some other alternatives I have posted in this thread:

That should be enough options to put together a nice listening list.

Onkyo 605 is a "fan favorite" receiver for this type of budget as well. Accessories4less.com typically has refurbs for around $300 and you get a factory warranty with that.

I have that receiver and the Polk Monitor setup which I think does quite well for the budget. I also have the Bic H-100 sub from ebay (do the "make an offer" function and offer $200, then pay $49 shipping for one hell of a bargain there too).
